Start with a plain request, like “Build me a resume for a marketing coordinator role.” Your assistant asks about your work history, education and skills, then creates the resume in your SoundCV account.

If you already have a resume, your assistant opens it and reuses what is there, so you never type your history twice. Need a version for a different job? It makes a copy first, and your original stays untouched.

See your resume score before a recruiter does

Ask “Review my resume” and your assistant runs the SoundCV scorer. You get a score out of 100, a grade for every section, and the high-priority problems listed first, so you know what to fix before anything else.

Add a job description for a second check. Paste the posting for a Senior Product Manager role, and SoundCV lists the keywords from that posting that your resume never mentions. Employers often screen resumes with applicant tracking systems that match on keywords, so these gaps are worth closing.

Switch templates with one message

Say “show me the templates” and your assistant opens a gallery of real previews, not a list of names. Click a design and SoundCV applies it to your resume. Your content stays the same, and you can switch back whenever you like.

You can also ask for smaller design changes, such as a different accent color, a new font, or tighter spacing. These go through the same preview step, so you see the change before it saves.

Templates that need a paid plan are marked locked. If you pick one, your assistant tells you and links to the pricing page. SoundCV never opens a checkout inside the chat.

Ask “let me see it” and, where your assistant supports interactive panels, one opens inside the chat. It draws your resume in its own SoundCV template: the same fonts, columns and colors you would print.

When it looks right, ask for the PDF. Your assistant returns a download link to the same file the SoundCV website would export. The link works once and expires after about ten minutes, so open it right away.

You stay in control

Approve every change before it saves

Your assistant never edits your resume in one step. It first asks SoundCV to check the edit, and SoundCV returns a before-and-after diff for every field that would change. You read it, then say yes or no.

Only after you approve does a second call save the change, and it needs a token tied to that exact preview. If the resume changed in the meantime, SoundCV refuses the save, so an old preview can never overwrite newer work.

Template switches are the one exception. They change the design only, never your words, and you can switch back.

Claude and ChatGPT

Claude or ChatGPT: what changes and what stays

Only the setup screens differ. The connector does not depend on the model, so you can add SoundCV to both and keep one resume that either assistant can open.

Add SoundCV from Settings. Claude detects the sign-in options by itself, so there is nothing to configure.

A resume holds your address, employers and phone number, so access should be narrow and easy to take back. Here is how the connector works.

Claude and ChatGPT resume questions

Open Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. Name it SoundCV, paste https://www.soundcv.com/mcp as the server URL, and click Add. Sign in to SoundCV in the window that opens, then approve access. Back in the chat, ask Claude to list your resumes.

Yes. In ChatGPT, open Settings, choose Plugins, and turn on Developer mode. Add a plugin named SoundCV with https://www.soundcv.com/mcp as the address, set authentication to OAuth, and sign in. ChatGPT flags Developer mode as elevated risk because it lets you add servers OpenAI has not reviewed. SoundCV never asks for your password in the chat.

Yes. With SoundCV connected, Claude creates a resume in your account, writes each section from the details you give it, and shows you every edit before it saves. Without a connector, Claude can write text in the chat but cannot reach your SoundCV account or its templates.

Yes. Once SoundCV is connected, ask ChatGPT to download your resume as a PDF. SoundCV renders the file in your chosen template and returns a download link. The link works once and expires after about ten minutes, so open it right away.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI assistants use outside apps. An MCP server is the app's side of that connection. SoundCV runs one at https://www.soundcv.com/mcp, and it gives your assistant tools such as listing resumes, scoring them, switching templates, and exporting PDFs.

Claude does not include SoundCV templates by itself. With the connector, you can say “show me the templates”, pick a design from a gallery of real previews, and switch your resume to it in one message. Your content stays the same, and you can switch back at any time.
