Setup guide
Forward job emails from Gmail
You add SoundCV as a forwarding address once, then a filter sends only job emails to it. Everything else in your inbox stays private. It takes about two minutes.
- 1
Copy your tracking address
In SoundCV open Job Application Tracker (or, for agencies, the client's Email setup tab) and copy the tracking address. It looks likesara-k3x9q2@track.soundcv.com. - 2
Add it as a forwarding address
In Gmail on a computer, click the gear icon → See all settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Add a forwarding address. Paste the tracking address and click Next, then Proceed. - 3
Enter the confirmation code
Gmail emails a confirmation code to the tracking address. SoundCV catches it and shows it on the same page within a minute. Type it into Gmail and click Verify. - 4
Keep forwarding off for everything else
Back on the Forwarding tab, leave Disable forwarding selected and save. This is what keeps the rest of your inbox private — only the filter in the next step forwards anything. - 5
Create the job-email filter
Open Filters and Blocked Addresses → Create a new filter. Paste this into Has the words:from:(greenhouse.io OR lever.co OR myworkday.com OR ashbyhq.com OR smartrecruiters.com OR icims.com OR workable.com) OR subject:(application OR interview OR "your candidacy")
Click Create filter, tick Forward it to, choose your tracking address, and click Create filter again. - 6
Check it worked
The next job email you receive shows up in SoundCV, and the setup card changes to Connected. You can also send yourself a test: forward any old application confirmation to the tracking address. - You can add your own senders to the filter, e.g. a recruiter's company domain.
- Gmail's filter only applies to new emails. To catch older ones, forward them by hand.
- To stop, delete the filter or the forwarding address in Gmail. Nothing else is needed.
