Senior Consultant SAP Utilities (IS-U / S/4HANA Utilities) at Look4IT

About this role

For our client, an international consulting organization specializing in SAP-driven transformation projects for the utilities sector, we are looking for an experienced Senior Consultant SAP Utilities to join large-scale programs supporting the modernization of the German energy market.
As energy companies transition from SAP IS-U to SAP S/4HANA Utilities, implement smart metering technologies, and adapt to evolving regulatory requirements, you will play a key role in shaping future-ready solutions for leading utility providers across Germany.

Your Role
You will work closely with energy suppliers, distribution network operators (DSOs), and metering service providers (MSBs), helping them design, implement, and optimize business-critical SAP Utilities processes.

Key

Advise utility companies on SAP S/4HANA Utilities transformation initiatives.

Analyze and optimize existing SAP IS-U and SAP S/4HANA Utilities environments.

Support end-to-end migration projects, from assessment and testing through cutover and go-live.

Design and improve processes within one or more of the following areas:

Market Communication (MaKo)

Billing & Tariffing

Device Management & Smart Metering

Design integration scenarios between SAP S/4HANA Utilities, SAP Integration Suite (CPI), SAP BTP, and external market systems.

Evaluate existing custom developments and recommend scalable SAP standard solutions.

Lead workshops and act as a trusted advisor for business stakeholders and project teams.

Requirements
Several years of experience as an SAP IS-U or SAP S/4HANA Utilities Consultant.

Strong understanding of the German energy market and its key processes.

Knowledge of industry regulations and frameworks such as GPKE, EnWG, EEG, KWKG, MsbG, GeLi Gas, WiM, §14a EnWG, and BSI requirements.

Hands-on experience working with EDIFACT messages such as UTILMD, MSCONS, INVOIC, REMADV, QUOTES, ORDERS, or IFTSTA.

Practical experience with SAP Utilities customizing.

Ability to translate business and technical requirements into robust SAP solutions.

German language proficiency at C1 level and English at B2 level or higher.

Expertise in at Least One of the Following Areas


Market Communication (MaKo)

End-to-end market communication processes in SAP Utilities.

Master data management, balancing, market roles, and exception handling.

Experience with SAP MaCo Cloud, SAP BTP, and Integration Suite is an advantage.


Billing & Tariffing

Strong background in billing and tariff processes within SAP IS-U or SAP S/4HANA Utilities.

Experience with SAP Convergent Invoicing.

Knowledge of INVOIC, REMADV, and QUOTES processes.

Exposure to EEG Billing and SAP Fiori is a plus.


Device Management & Smart Metering

Experience with smart metering and device lifecycle management.

Integration with GWA, MDM, and Head-End systems.

Knowledge of MsbG, §14a EnWG, and BSI regulations.

Experience with IM4G to US4G migrations is an advantage.
