The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary Research Study Assistant to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to theAssociate Professor, the Research Study Assistant will support research projects related to patient safety, build hardware and software innovations to improve perioperative care and safety and support a team of designated colleagues in engineering and data science research conducted in the operating room.
Examples of current projects include (1) measurement of neuromuscular blockade by twitch monitoring, and (2) the use of computer vision to identify anesthesia drug vials and syringes.

Data Collection – 40%
- Collect data during clinical studies.
- Ensure that subjects meet all inclusion and exclusion criteria, following specific protocol compliance.
- Consult with research team on appropriate management of data collection/entry problems and concerns.
Screening & Consenting Patients – 20%
- Speak with prospective study participants and complete the consent process.
- Ensure that subjects meet all inclusion and exclusion criteria, following specific protocol compliance.
Data Entry & Analysis – 40%
- Perform data entry and maintenance of study records.
- Assist with data analysis and monitoring of related databases.
- Consult with research team on appropriate management of data collection/entry problems and concerns.
- Within scope of position, assist with manuscript writing.
Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area and one year of appropriate experience or equivalent education/experience
- Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department.
Additional Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is essential.
- Ability to pick up new systems quickly
- Ability to work well independently and within a team.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
- Organized and attentive to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience of database management.
- Data analysis and presentation are desired.
Working Conditions
The research study assistant will interact with a wide variety of people, including patients, surgeons, operating room staff, and the anesthesia team.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$45,144.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$50,736.00 annual
