The Postdoctoral Scholar will conduct independent and collaborative research within the laboratory of Dr. Hassane Zarour at the OSUCCC – James Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO). The position will focus on basic and translational cancer immunology research aimed at understanding mechanisms of response and resistance to cancer immunotherapy, immune checkpoint blockade, and tumor -mediated immune dysfunction. The Postdoctoral Scholar will design and execute mechanistic studies utilizing patient-derived samples, advanced immune profiling technologies, molecular biology approaches, and preclinical models to advance novel strategies and biomarkers for cancer treatment.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Oncology, or a related biomedical science field.
  • Experience conducting independent scientific research in cancer biology, immunology, translational medicine, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cellular and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with flow cytometry, immune profiling, molecular analyses, and experimental design.
  • Strong analytical, scientific writing, communication, and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in and collaborative research environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in cancer immunology, tumor immunology, immune checkpoint biology, or immunotherapy research.
  • Experience with multiparameter flow cytometry, tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte analyses, and immune monitoring technologies.
  • Experience with multiplex , spatial biology, tissue imaging, and quantitative image analysis platforms.
  • Experience with animal models of cancer, including tumor implantation, tissue collection, and surgical procedures.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques including cell culture, PCR, immunoblotting, ELISA, viral vector systems, and genetic manipulation approaches.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
  • Experience mentoring students, trainees, or laboratory personnel.
