The Role
Reporting to the Manager Strategic Planning you will be responsible for providing heritage and techincal conservation advice on behalf of Council to internal and external stakeholders. The role will be pivotal in leading Council and the Community in heritage conservation through developing, coordinating and implementing Council’s Heritage Strategy, as well as assessing development applications and managing the preparation of heritage policies and strategies.
About You
You will be motivated and passionate about heritage and conservation with demonstrated experience applying heritage conservation principles and have well developed research and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex heritage issues. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on heritage and conservation matters.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification in heritage conservation, architecture, town or urban planning, urban design, or a related discipline.
- Experience preparing or assessing heritage significance assessment and heritage impact assessments.
- Sound Knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Heritage Act 1977 and other legislation, regulation and guidelines relevant to heritage conservation in NSW.
- Experience preparing reports, briefings and correspondence on complex development matters and monitoring development outcomes
- High Level verbal and written communication skills
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Work in NSW
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo background (police) checks and medical declaration
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in heritage conservation, architecture, town or urban planning, urban design, or a related discipline
- Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional body such as Australia ICOMOS, the Planning Institute of Australia or the Australian Institute of Architects
- Experience collecting and preparing evidence for legal proceedings
