The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Assistant to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to Academic Services-Assistant Director, the Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the programs associated with the Center for Student Involvement that are funded by the Services and Activities Fee. This position provides customer service to students and visitors, and administrative support to the staff in the Center for Student Involvement.
**Key **
Office Administration (50%):
- Provide customer service to students and visitors, and administrative support to the staff in the Center for Student Involvement.
- Provide office coverage in the University Y Student Center, including receiving visitors, answering telephones, and responding to inquiries.
- Assist with maintenance of inventory of supplies and assist in re-ordering.
- Perform filing for personnel, program, and budget as well as maintain electronic and e-mail files as needed.
- Assist with maintenance of staff calendars as needed.
- Assist with distributing and preparing incoming and outgoing mail.
- Update department contact information and organization documents.
- Make minor updates of department websites, including graphics software and make recommendations regarding appropriate display of graphic information.
Event Management (25%):
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact for all events that are scheduled in the UWY Student Center and Dawg House. Create invoices, task lists, and diagrams. Delegate tasks to student workers and provides coverage for events and set-ups as needed. Work closely with the Events and Conference Services team, YMCA staff and external clients to ensure compliance with food and event management policies.
Finance (20%):
- Handle all departmental reimbursements and support issuing payment and receiving of invoices; track project expenses as needed.
Departmental and University Participation (5%):
- Participate in interoffice committees and departmental meetings. Attend and participate in all departmental meetings as a member of the Center for Student Involvement team. Participate in divisional meetings and serve on divisional committees.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Two years of clerical experience.

- Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate a positive attitude, helpfulness, willingness to learn, and proactive team involvement.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Sensitivity to the need for confidentiality.
- Experience and familiarity with web-based content management applications, such as Drupal.

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the central location of student focused programs and services designed to engage students in the campus community. The Center for Student Involvement is in the University Y Student Center and is a working environment for professional staff, classified staff, student employees, and student leaders to create engagement experiences and foster community connections at UW Tacoma. Examples of the engagement programs and activities that the Center for Student Involvement encompasses are Student Activities Board (SAB), Associated Students of the University of Washington Tacoma (ASUWT), Husky Volunteers, Giving Garden, Husky Sustainability Fund, Welcome Days, Student Publications (The Tacoma Ledger Student Newspaper & Tahoma West Literary Arts Journals), and 80+ Registered Student Organizations.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

$45,144.00 annual
