About the Job
As Database Engineer – Deployment and Support within our Digital Technology Service Quality team, you'll build, deploy, and support the enterprise database estate that holds Sanofi's most critical data. From automated provisioning and high-availability design through to performance optimization and incident response, you'll ensure our data platforms remain secure, resilient, and performant — powering business-critical applications across manufacturing, research, and enterprise systems worldwide. Ready to get started?
You'll work across Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and manage cloud database services, deploying infrastructure as code and promoting schema changes through pipelines rather than by hand. You'll own what you deploy — from day one through day-two operations — ensuring proven recoverability, availability, and compliance. This role sits at the heart of Sanofi's digital transformation, where the persistence layer you build directly enables thousands of users to chase the miracles of science.
About Sanofi
Sanofi is dedicated to supporting people through their health challenges. We are a global company focused on human health, committed to chasing the miracles of science to improve people's lives. Our team, across some 100 countries, is dedicated to transforming the practice of medicine by working to turn the impossible into the possible. We provide potentially life-changing treatment options and life-saving vaccine protection to millions of people globally, while putting sustainability and social responsibility at the center of our ambitions
At Sanofi, we believe our people are our greatest strength, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives drive innovation. Our values — Aim Higher, Act for Patients, Be Bold, and Lead Together — guide everything we do
**Main **
- Deploy databases as code using Terraform, Ansible, and migration tooling (Liquibase, Flyway, DACPAC), with CI/CD pipelines that validate, test, and promote changes from Dev to Production
- Design and operate high availability and disaster recovery — Always On availability groups, Oracle Data Guard, PostgreSQL replication, and cloud-native failover — with regular testing to prove recovery commitments
- Provide L2/L3 operational support and participate in on-call rotation, diagnosing and resolving incidents including replication failures, performance degradation, backup issues, and corruption scenarios
- Optimize performance and capacity using execution plans, wait statistics, and platform-native tools (Query Store, AWR, pg_stat_statements), partnering with application teams on indexing and query tuning
- Execute patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management, meeting compliance SLAs and driving end-of-life remediation across the estate
- Implement database security and compliance — encryption, auditing, privileged access control, and data masking — maintaining validation documentation for GxP-regulated systems
- Automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell, Python, and platform APIs, building reusable, production-grade automation that eliminates manual toil
- Onboard databases into monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk), defining meaningful alerts and dashboards that drive proactive operations
About You
- Experience: Proven track record deploying and supporting enterprise databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) in large-scale, global environments; regulated industry experience is a plus
- Technical skills: Hands-on expertise in database deployment, high availability (Always On, RAC, replication), backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security; proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform preferred), schema migration tools, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, PL/SQL); working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and managed database services
- ITSM & observability: Strong working knowledge of ServiceNow (Incident, Change, CMDB) and ITIL practices; experience with monitoring platforms (Datadog, Splunk) and alert design
- Soft skills: Strong ownership mindset and calm under pressure during incidents; rigorous attention to detail in change control and documentation; clear communicator who translates technical risk into business terms; collaborative team player with an automation-first, continuous-improvement instinct
- Languages: Fluent English (written and verbal)
Why choose us?
- Mission-critical impact — your work protects and powers the data behind life-changing medicines and vaccines
- Own what you build — deploy with code, operate with discipline, and prove recoverability through testing, not hope
- Modern engineering culture — automation-first, cloud-native, and built on Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD
- Global scale and variety — work across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments supporting diverse workloads
- Continuous learning — exposure to cutting-edge platforms, AIOps, and intelligent operations in a regulated, high-standards environment
- Purpose-driven work — every database you deploy supports Sanofi's mission to improve people's lives worldwide
