Support Worker - Emergency Department
Location: Morriston Hospital, Swansea
Salary: £13.45 per hour
Hours: Zero hours, as required – Shifts are Monday to Friday 10:00 - 18:00 excluding Bank Holidays
Contract: Casual

As a Support Worker, you will work in a hospital, offering practical and emotional support to patients, their families, and staff. Supporting them to live independently. Can you be the person who brings comfort, clarity, and kindness when it is needed most?
What will a day in the life of a Support Worker involve?
- Assisting patients with mealtimes, refreshments, and comfort items such as blankets or pillows.
- Providing one-to-one support to patients with dementia, confusion, or emotional distress.
- Offering bereavement support and referring patients to further services.
- Helping patients return home safely, including arranging transport and follow-up work.
What will you need to be a successful Support Worker?
- Confidence working in a busy hospital environment, especially in the emergency department.
- A caring and calm attitude, combined with strong communication skills and emotional resilience.
- The ability to assess needs, follow support plans, and work independently.
- A natural ability to build trust and offer reassurance to people in distress.
