Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to serve as a Systems Architect / Advanced Concepts Engineer supporting our growing satellite ground systems portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of technical solutioning and business capture, contributing directly to the architecture and win strategy for a pipeline of major ground systems modernization opportunities spanning civil space agency and defense/intelligence community customers.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and evolve reference architectures for multi-mission ground systems spanning satellite command and control, mission data processing, antenna and contact management, and mission operations
- Lead technical trade studies evaluating on-premises, cloud-native, and hybrid architecture approaches for satellite ground system modernization efforts
- Translate customer requirements and RFI/RFP technical evaluation criteria into credible, cost-effective solution architectures
- Support systems engineering activities including requirements decomposition, interface definition, and technical risk assessment for proposed solutions
- Collaborate with software, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering teams to ensure proposed architectures are technically executable and align with current program capabilities
- Partner with Capture Managers and Business Development leads to shape technical win strategy, discriminators, and customer-facing messaging across active pursuits
- Support customer engagement activities, including technical exchange meetings, one-on-one sessions, and industry days
- Author and contribute to technical content for RFI responses, white papers, capability statements, and proposal volumes
- Support competitive assessments, including technical benchmarking against known and anticipated competitors
- Contribute to capture strategy and solution baseline reviews by presenting solution concepts and defending technical approach to internal review boards
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

Experience developing or contributing to system architectures for civil space agency and/or defense/intelligence community programs

Experience supporting proposal development, capture activities, or customer-facing technical exchanges
Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience across most of the following domains:

Satellite ground systems architecture (on-premises and/or cloud-based)

Satellite command and control (C2/TT&C)

Mission data processing (ingest, product generation, dissemination, archive)

Antenna and contact management systems

Mission operations concepts and execution

Experience with cloud-native ground system architectures (e.g., containerized/microservices-based product processing, Kubernetes orchestration)

Familiarity with Government contracting models relevant to ground systems services (e.g., traditional GOCO, COCO, managed services/SLA-based contracting)

Experience with FISMA/NIST-aligned security architecture for satellite ground systems

Prior direct experience with NOAA, NASA, or other civil space agency ground system programs

Familiarity with Agile/SAFe development practices as applied to ground systems sustainment and modernization

Advanced degree in relevant engineering discipline
