University of Washington School of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior IR Technology & Applications Specialist to join their team.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, the Internal Consulting Group, Integrated Resources Project Lead, the Senior Integrated Resources (IR) Technology & Applications Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and continuously improving technology solutions that support the School of Medicine Integrated Resources service model. This role delivers innovative solutions using Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and related Microsoft 365 technologies to translate complex business processes and address customer needs across seven functional IR areas: Academic HR, Staff HR, Pre-Award Grants, Post-Award Grants, Clinical Trials Office, Finance and IT.

Application Development & Solution Architecture – 25%
- Design, develop, configure, test, implement, and maintain enterprise-level technology solutions supporting the School of Medicine's Integrated Resources (IR) operating model using Microsoft SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft 365, and related technologies.
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable applications, workflows, user experiences, and sustainable solutions to meet current and long-term operational needs.
- Develop reusable standards, templates, and technical components that support organizational growth within IR.
IR Service Delivery, Workflow & Automation – 15%
- Create and improve ticketing and service-request solutions, including routing, assignment, status tracking, notifications, documentation and resolution, across the seven IR functional areas: Academic HR, Staff HR, Pre-Award Grants, Post-Award Grants, Clinical Trials Office, Finance and IT through workflow redesign and automation, and development of standardized solutions.
- Design, implement and follow up on the development of automated workflows that reduce manual processing.
SharePoint, Knowledge Management & Customer-Facing Sites – 15%
- Lead design, development and ongoing maintenance of IR SharePoint environment by establishing information architecture, navigation, permissions, content structures, search functionality, and site standards for internal IR resources and customer-facing sites
- Develop and maintain accessible, intuitive customer self-service IR resources and internal sites containing standard operating procedures, policies, resources, templates, communications, training materials, and other operational information.
Business Analysis & Project Leadership – 10%
- Partner with IR leadership, functional leaders, subject matter experts, and customers to analyze business processes and identify technology requirements and opportunities.
- Lead technology projects from initial conception through design, development, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.
- Manage competing requirements, priorities, and timelines from varying stakeholders, multiple IR functional areas, departments, SoM IT teams, and central UW partners.
Data, Metrics & Business Intelligence – 10%
- Design and develop data collection, reporting, and business intelligence solutions with IR leadership and functional experts to support management and continuous improvement of IR services through meaningful metrics and actionable reporting.
- Develop Power BI dashboards and other reporting tools to monitor service demand, workload, customer needs, operational performance, and other key measures across IR functional areas.
- Establish consistent data definitions, structures, and reporting processes.
Systems Integration, Security, Testing & Maintenance – 10%
- Maintain integrations, testing practices, security standards, and application reliability among SharePoint, Power Platform, Microsoft 365 applications and other approved systems.
- Evaluate technical dependencies and the impact of system changes on downstream processes to ensure solutions are designed with consideration of data security, privacy, access controls, accessibility, reliability and business continuity.
- Perform application testing, deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
- Coordinates with central UW IT and other technical resources when enterprise-level systems, integrations or infrastructure are involved.
Customer Experience, Training & Change Management – 5%
- Design technology solutions with a strong focus on customer experience, usability, accessibility, and ease of adoption.
- Develop user guides, technical documentation, standard operating procedures, training materials, ongoing application improvements and other resources supporting adoption and consistent use of applications through collaboration with IR staff and customers.
- Train and consult IR staff and other users on applications, workflows, dashboards, and technology-enabled processes.
Technical Leadership, Technology Roadmap & Continuous Improvement – 10%
- Serve as the senior technical resource for the SoM Integrated Resources organization, providing leadership in the development, governance, and evolution of the IR technology environment while partnering with leadership to assess needs, establish priorities, and guide strategic technology initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a technology roadmap aligned with organizational growth; establish standards and best practices for application development, security, accessibility, documentation, testing, change management, and ongoing system support.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, identify opportunities to improve processes and automation, enhance scalability and service delivery, and provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coordination of technology resources as the IR technology function expands.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, business information systems, or related field.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in software development, application development, systems analysis, web development, business systems, or related field.

Additional Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining business applications and technology solutions.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Experience analyzing business processes and translating business requirements into technical specifications and functional solutions.
- Experience developing applications, workflows, forms, dashboards, reports, websites, or other technology solutions for business users.
- Experience with data structures, reporting, data integration, and/or business intelligence tools.
- Demonstrated experience with application testing, troubleshooting, debugging, implementation, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex technical projects and make sound decisions regarding technical approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and adapt technology solutions to changing business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance or mentorship to other staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and implementing technology solutions within large, complex academic, research, healthcare, higher education, shared services, or similarly decentralized organizations.
- Advanced experience with SharePoint Online, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Forms, and Teams.
- Experience designing and supporting ticketing, case management, service-request, help desk, knowledge management, intranet, self-service portal, or customer-facing technology solutions.
- Experience with SharePoint information architecture, site design, permissions, content management, Microsoft Dataverse, relational databases, APIs, and application integrations.
- Experience developing operational metrics, business intelligence solutions, executive dashboards, and user-centered applications that emphasize accessibility and customer experience.
- Experience establishing technology standards and governance practices, leading complex cross-functional projects, and mentoring or supervising technical staff.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$99,228.00 annual
