JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner will have responsibility for a broad range of human resources functions in support of MPC’s Commercial Organization. Serving as a trusted advisor to business leaders, the Sr. HRBP provides strategic HR partnership across talent, organization, workforce, and business priorities.
This role requires a confident, business-minded HR professional who builds strong relationships while bringing sound judgment, independent perspective, and the ability to influence thoughtful people and business decisions. The Sr. HRBP works closely with leaders at all levels to understand business objectives, anticipate talent and organizational needs, and translate those needs into practical people strategies and solutions.
Successful Sr. HRBPs serve as employee champions, change agents, and strategic partners to the business. Specifically related to their assigned client groups, Sr. HRBPs will be expected to develop and maintain an effective level of business literacy and build strong partnerships across the organization. Key areas of partnership include talent and succession planning, performance and compensation, organizational effectiveness, workforce and capability planning, learning & development, employee relations, and execution of enterprise HR priorities. This role supports a dynamic, evolving organization with employees across corporate offices, field locations, and remote work environments across multiple time zones.
The position is part of a family of jobs with increasing levels of responsibility, competency, and skill. The title and pay grade of the position will be determined by the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
:
- Implement HR strategies aligned with business needs through influence and change management. Develop and maintain strong relationships with client groups and leaders at all levels to drive business results, anticipate talent and organizational needs, and support talent reviews, succession planning, and related action plans.
- Promote and fosters inclusion and opportunity (I&O) in the workplace to support a high performing culture.
- Partner with assigned client groups in the interpretation and administration of human resources policies and programs involving employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, talent processes, and other people-related matters. Provide guidance and solutions that are practical, consistent, and aligned with business needs and enterprise HR priorities.
- Guide and assist employees and leaders in the interpretation and administration of HR policies, procedures, practices, and programs. Apply sound judgment and business context to support consistent, practical, and credible people decisions.
- Provide performance and leadership consulting to client organizations, including training, needs assessments, organizational development, leadership development, and meeting facilitation. Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to develop strategies and solutions that respond to changing business needs.
- Responsible for conducting investigations for the preparation and presentation of facts leading to the resolution of employee disputes related to various issues. Where applicable, participates in negotiations with employee unions and provides assistance in the interpretation and administration of labor contracts to include arbitration.
- Develop, lead, and/or assist with special projects, enterprise and client-group HR initiatives, annual people processes, and process improvements as assigned. Assimilate information, assess business impact, and recommend action based on findings, available funding, and organizational priorities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Human Resources, Labor & Industrial Relations, or related field highly preferred.
- Four (4) or more years of related HR experience required. HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience highly preferred.
- Prior experience in petroleum, utilities, manufacturing or related field is preferred.

- Strong time management, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently to manage multiple priorities and meet organization needs simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-output environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong collaboration, consultation, and relationship management skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships with internal clients, external partners, and employees at all levels.
- Analytical skills and the ability to assimilate information, assess business impact, and recommend practical actions based on findings and organizational priorities.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
COMPETENCIES:
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and limited information while engaging clients to reach clarity and alignment.
- Ability to apply sound judgment, business context, and practical guidance to support credible people and business decisions.

- Demonstrated detail orientation and analytical discipline to support accurate, thoughtful, and well-reasoned recommendations.
- Ability to demonstrate a partnership orientation by collaborating effectively and building productive relationships across teams, functions, and levels of the organization.
