About the role

The Business Analysis Capability Lead provides organisation‑wide business analysis consultancy, specialist advice and training. The role sets and maintains Business Analysis standards, drives capability uplift, and contributes to project delivery through a 50% allocation to Business Analyst duties.

This important role for our City improves team performance and promotes best‑practice methodologies. You will work closely with Business Analysis Leads, Specialist Analysts, delivery teams, PMOs and senior leaders to ensure consistent and aligned business analysis practices across the organisation.

This is a fixed term full-time contract for 12 months.

**Key **

  • Lead Business Analysis capability uplift across the City, maintaining standards, methods, processes and templates aligned with best practice and Council requirements.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and formal training for Business Analysis staff, stakeholders and staff applying Business Analysis techniques.
  • Establish and manage the Business Analysis Centre of Excellence, including governance, standards and capability development.
  • Provide specialist guidance and technical leadership to Business Analysts and Leads to ensure consistent use of tools, techniques and enterprise frameworks.
  • Evaluate Business Analysis tools and techniques and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and refine Business Analysis frameworks, methodologies, knowledge bases, tools and templates.
  • Deliver capability uplift programs, including training plans, onboarding and induction.
  • Analyse capability uplift requests and data to inform development strategies and lead lessons‑learned activities.

About you

You are a strategic thinker and collaborative leader with strong business analysis expertise. You enjoy mentoring others, building capability and supporting consistent practice. You work well with direction while also showing initiative and confidence in leading people and improving standards.

Essential requirements

  • Bachelor Degree of Business Analytics or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Certificate of Organisational Coaching or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering business analysis outcomes across programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team, including people and resource management
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Highly desirable

  • Experience within a Centre of Excellence – set-up and implementation
  • Formal qualifications/certifications in one or more of the following:
  • Business Analysis (e.g. ECBA® or equivalent).
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or above.
  • Certified Business Process Associate (CBPA®) or equivalent.
  • PRINCE2® Project Management or equivalent.
  • BPMN 2.0 certification or equivalent.
  • TOGAF® certification or equivalent.
