This is an exciting opportunity for an international relations professional to contribute to the City's sister city program, international partnerships, diplomatic engagement activities and strategic relationships that deliver lasting benefits for the Gold Coast community.

About the role

Working closely with the Senior International Engagement Adviser, you will help deliver the City's international engagement program and provide coordination and advice across a range of civic, diplomatic and partnership initiatives.

This is a fixed term position until 25 May 2028.

You will:

  • Support travel coordination, itineraries and logistical arrangements for delegation visits
  • Maintain accurate records, registers and reporting systems, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide general administrative support within International Relations, and the broader Office of the Mayor when required.

This role operates within a dynamic and politically aware environment and requires sound judgement and professionalism. The position also requires flexibility to support occasional after-hours functions, official visits, delegations and civic events.

We’re looking for people who have:

You are a proactive and professional communicator with experience in international relations, stakeholder engagement or a related field. You enjoy working in a fast-paced office and can confidently manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in international relations, international studies, business or a related field, and/or demonstrated experience in international engagement, diplomacy or government
  • Outstanding written communication skills, including demonstrated experience preparing executive-level communications
  • Strong relationship management capabilities
  • Well-developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A natural ability to plan, coordinate and manage details, while remaining calm, flexible and solutions-focused when circumstances change.
  • Confidence when speaking in front of small groups and delegations
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a small, high-performing team
  • Discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information and senior stakeholders
