LOCATION: Any Nations Base with frequent travel to London – Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:  £115,000 - £130,000depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As Head of Digital Growth, Product & AI (Nations), you will lead the BBC Nations digital growth strategy, helping audiences across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland discover and engage with BBC content. Working at the intersection of editorial, product, technology and AI, you'll drive audience growth, shape future digital experiences, champion innovation, and ensure Nations plays a leading role in delivering the BBC's digital transformation ambitions.

YOUR KEY AND IMPACT

• Lead the development and delivery of the Nations digital growth strategy, driving audience engagement and performance across BBC digital platforms.
• Build strong partnerships across editorial, product, technology and audience teams to influence product roadmaps and ensure Nations priorities are represented.
• Champion digital innovation, localisation and content discoverability, helping audiences connect with relevant local and national content.
• Co-lead the Nations AI programme, identifying opportunities to scale AI adoption, improve workflows and deliver measurable audience and operational benefits.
• Provide strategic leadership and governance through performance reporting, stakeholder engagement and cross-BBC collaboration to support long-term digital growth.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

• Significant leadership experience in digital publishing, audience growth, product development or digital transformation within a large and complex organisation.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic initiatives that drive measurable digital audience growth and engagement.
• Strong understanding of digital products, content discovery, publishing workflows, metadata and audience development strategies.
• Experience leading AI, emerging technology or innovation programmes, including driving adoption and embedding new capabilities at scale.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, build consensus and align priorities across multiple teams and disciplines.

DESIRABLE

• Experience working within media, broadcasting, journalism or content-focused organisations.
• Knowledge of audience behaviours, digital consumption trends and evolving platform ecosystems.
• Experience collaborating with product, technology and data teams to deliver audience-centred digital experiences.
• Experience leading teams and developing digital capability across an organisation.
• Understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with responsible AI implementation in content creation and publishing environments.
