The Role

Being part of one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, we benefit from collaborating with some of the best engineers in the business, with access to state-of-the-art technical support, and have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most high-profile projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

SIDRA Medical and Research Centre in Doha, UAE, the Living Systems Institute at the University of Exeter, the vast £1 billion regeneration at Kings Cross in London, are examples of some of the amazing projects where we have led the design with other Hoare Lea disciplines.

You’ll be part of a supportive, dynamic environment where creativity and precision come together, and where your ideas can make a real difference.

You’ll work on a diverse range of projects across sectors such as Healthcare, Education, Residential, and Commercial, supported by both your local engineering team and our national BIM & Digital Engineering community.

As a Graduate BIM Technician, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we’ll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you. You could be;

• Working on live projects from day one – our exciting projects
• In a variety of sectors from healthcare to hotels, retail to residential
• Support the production and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using Autodesk Revit
• Assist with model setup and management, including views, sheets, schedules, legends, tagging, etc.
• Work within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and project Common Data Envrionment (CDE) workflows, while learning to read and apply BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), project information requirements and relevant standards
• Carry out basic model and drawing quality checks to help ensure outputs comply with project BIM requirements and Hoare Lea standards, while developing an interest in automation tools such as Dynamo and RF Tools
• Researching ground-breaking technologies
• Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end users, and attend collaborative meetings.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need…

• An expected or achieved 2.1 or above degree or equivalent qualification in Building Information Modelling (BIM), Design or Engineering subjects such as Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar
• An interest in BIM coordination, clash detection, model coordination and automation
• Some practical experience using Autodesk Revit; preferably within building services, MEP, or construction background
• Understanding of building services and how MEP systems are coordinated within buildings
• Understanding of producing 2D drawings and information from a 3D Revit model
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• A friendly, ambitious and confident individual with a flexible and resilient approach

It would be an advantage, but not necessary, if you also had…

• A Masters or other relevant post graduate qualification
• Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry
• An understanding of other CAD or similar modelling software e.g. Navisworks Manage, Solibri, Dynamo, ACC.
