Job detail for Clinical Senior Lecturer - Academic Lead for Year 5 MBChB

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as an Clinical Senior Lecturer, Academic Lead for year 5 of our MB ChB Programme. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our MBChB Programme Teaching and Learning Academic Team, supporting the senior leadership team in ensuring delivery of the Year 5 programme to the highest standard. You will supervise the associate academic leads and CEC academic leads for Year 5 and will be responsible for ensuring that year 5 learning content is assessed and updated appropriately by relevant academic staff. You will be a key member of the Year 5 emendation group with the assessment team. You will work to enhance the experience for students by improving the quality of year 5 through the sharing and implementation of good practice within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

You will be responsible for: -

• Leadership of the year 5 academic team
• A continuous evaluation and improvement of the Year 5 programme
• Ensuring our teaching and learning prepares our students for progression to graduation and early professional practice
• Engagement with our clinical tutors and supporting administrative staff who deliver our course across our clinical education campuses

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

• A practicing physician/surgeon with a primary medical qualification on the UK specialist register / GP register
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the speciality
• An understanding of the local health services as they relate to undergraduate medical education.
• Commitment to, and enthusiasm for, undergraduate medical education.
• Evidence of leadership qualities with a track record of involvement in undergraduate or postgraduate medical education

Desirable Criteria:

• Current clinical appointment within one of Manchester Medical School’s clinical education partners (including General Practice) or current clinical academic appointment with the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, at consultant level or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Manchester MBChB programme structure and outcomes; how the year fits within the overall context of the programme and how the programme relates to the requirements of the GMC for undergraduate medical education.
• Experience of clinical leadership or medical education that is relevant to the roles and of the position.
• Relevant experience in undergraduate medical education related to experiential learning, curriculum design and implementation with a degree in medical education (PG cert equivalent or higher).
• Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams in an educational context
