Job Description

About the role

The Executive Operations Manager is a trusted partner to the CMO, responsible for turning strategy, priorities, and decisions into coordinated execution and operational realities across the organisation to reach our maximum potential. The Executive Operations Manager ensures the organisation remains aligned, informed and able to execute effectively. They spot gaps before they become problems, identify risks before they become blockers, and provide additional coordination, challenge, and support wherever they are needed most, acting as a force multiplier rather than a direct owner of business outcomes.

Operating across strategy, operations, project/programme management and executive support, this role ensures that important initiatives move forward with clarity, speed and accountability.

The Executive Operations Manager acts as a force multiplier for the CMO - connecting teams, removing obstacles, identifying risks, surfacing insights and ensuring commitments translate into measurable outcomes.

This role is suited to a highly organised operator who enjoys solving problems, navigating complexity and driving progress in a fast-moving environment. Success is measured not by activity completed, but by outcomes delivered, friction removed and organisational effectiveness improved.

What you'll be doing

Strategic execution and operational leadership

Act as a trusted partner to the CMO, helping to ensure that strategic priorities, decisions and commitments translate into effective execution.

  • Maintain a live view of strategic priorities, decisions and organisational commitments.
  • Identify blockers, barriers, risks, and dependencies that could impact delivery - ideally before they become visible.
  • Drive accountability, momentum and follow-through across key initiatives.
  • Surface friction, issues, opportunities and trends that deserve leadership attention.
  • Support executive reporting, board materials and strategic communications.

Programme and project management

Provide programme/project management where required to help strategic initiatives remain on track.

  • Bring structure, visibility and coordination to complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Support governance, milestones, success measures and progress tracking.
  • Coordinate stakeholders and dependencies across teams.
  • Intervene where projects require additional support, course correction or escalation.
  • Bring structure, pace and transparency to strategic programmes.
  • Act as a PM resource when additional support is needed for priority initiatives.

Stakeholder management and alignment

Build strong relationships across the organisation to improve collaboration and effective execution.

  • Act as a central coordination point for strategic initiatives between leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment when priorities, resources or feel unclear or contested.
  • Represent the CMO in selected meetings, projects and working groups.
  • Support informed decision-making through clear communication and visibility.

Problem solving and organisational effectiveness

Identify and address challenges that hinder performance, delivery or collaboration.

  • Act as a trusted problem solver/fixer for complex, ambiguous or sensitive issues.
  • Recommend and implement practical improvements to ways of working.
  • Help teams navigate obstacles to maintain momentum.
  • Drive greater visibility, accountability and execution discipline.

AI, automation and continuous improvement

Champion the use of AI and modern technology to improve organisational effectiveness.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and improve workflows.
  • Introduce tools and practices that increase productivity and reduce manual effort.
  • Support teams in adopting AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Continuously challenge existing processes to improve speed, quality and outcomes.

Measures of Success

Issues are raised proactively before they escalate, not reactively after the fact

  • Strategic initiatives move forward between review cycles without the CMO needing to chase.
  • The CMO has the information needed to make fast, well-informed decisions.
  • Cross-functional leaders actively seek this person out for coordination and problem-solving.
  • CMO time is freed from operational firefighting and redirected to high-value activity.
  • Sensitive matters are handled with no lapses in confidentiality or judgment.
Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience supporting C-Suite or senior leadership with execution of strategic initiatives across business operations, programme management, consulting, strategy or executive support within a complex organisation.
  • Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills, able to manage multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously and seamlessly without dropping threads or requiring close management.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills to drive cross-functional collaboration - and influencing effectively with Sales, Consulting, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and HR - without direct authority.
  • Skilled in operational cadence design, performance dashboards, and metrics-driven decision-making.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and professionalism, with proven ability to operate with highly confidential information without compromise.
  • Strong understanding of AI, automation and productivity tools with demonstrable value of applying them to improve ways of working.

A couple of nice things to have

  • Experience within technology, software or professional services environments.
  • Experience leading organisational change or transformation initiatives.
