The Financial Services department of the Corporate Services and Public Safety division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Customer Service Associate. Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Services, this position offers between 40-50 hours bi-weekly, starting as soon as possible until August 2027.

The Customer Service Associate’s primary role is to be the first point of contact for callers and visitors to Municipal Hall and to deliver an excellent customer service experience in a pleasant, positive, and professional manner by providing accurate information about municipal departments and programs, resort festivals, and local government policies, procedures, and regulations. The Customer Service Associate is the main liaison with the Bylaw department for bylaw disputes and parking citations and will process payments for a broad range of additional services provided by the RMOW such as permits and licenses, transit passes, marriage licenses, utilities billing and property taxes. This role is also responsible for processing daily Point of Sale (POS) transactions and cash reconciliation, answering telephone calls and email, ordering office supplies, and processing the daily mail and courier packages.

Qualified candidates will possess a grade 12 diploma supplemented by additional education in administration or customer service and 1-3 years of previous work experience in a similar customer service focused position with an element of administration. Candidates must have considerable previous experience with POS, operating a high-volume switchboard, and excellent computer skills with the ability to learn new and changing technology. Additionally, candidates must also have some knowledge of municipal departments and programs, procedures, and policies. Working knowledge of municipal applications such as Tempest is considered an asset.

The successful candidate is a professional, detail-orientated, and well-organized individual who demonstrates sound administrative methods and procedures related to this work and the proven ability to apply conflict resolution techniques with the public as necessary. The successful candidate demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team and will create and maintain effective working relationships with others while contributing to a positive environment. The starting wage for this job position is $30.57 per hour.

As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment.
