Job Description
We are hiring a Clinical Research Interface (CRI) Manager to provide coordination support and management of the CRI.
The CRI provides a critical link between the Research Network working with data available in the National Genomic Research Library, Genomics England and NHS clinical teams caring for patients.
The role will involve working with the relevant teams at Genomics England and external stakeholders to maximise the impact of genomic findings for participants and patients. This includes returning putative diagnostic findings to the NHS, initiating collaborations between researchers and NHS clinicians to further research and linking participants with potential therapeutic opportunities.
The Clinical Research Interface (CRI) team provides coordination and stakeholder engagement needed to support the return of important research findings into healthcare settings.
As CRI Manager, you will oversee the logistical processes required to support the Diagnostic Discovery pathway and facilitate research collaborations, bringing together researchers, clinicians, diagnostic laboratories, and internal teams.
You will play a key role in building strong partnerships, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance, and helping scientific discoveries make a meaningful difference in patient care.
Everyday include:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Diagnostic Discovery pathway, for returning new candidate diagnoses identified to NHS laboratories.
- Manage the day-to-day operations for Clinical Collaboration requests, to facilitate and promote collaborations between researchers and clinicians.
- Liaise with members of the CRI team, Diagnostic Discovery team, and other Genomics England teams across healthcare and research services to resolve complex scenarios, achieve optimal end-to-end support for these workflows and align CRI activities with the wider service.
- Liaise with NHS clinicians and scientists and members of the Research Network to respond to queries and requests, resolve complex situations arising and seek feedback to enable improvements to the CRI pathways and processes.
- Managing consent verification, patient information checks, and laboratory identification to ensure findings can progress safely and compliantly.
- Maintaining tracking systems, reports, and operational documentation to support effective case management and governance.
- Building strong partnerships with researchers, clinicians, laboratory scientists, and other stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and decision-making.
- Ensuring robust governance processes are followed when handling sensitive patient information and research findings.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, workflows, and operational efficiency across the pathway.
Skills & experience for success:
- Extensive experience in healthcare, clinical research, life sciences or precision medicine.
- An understanding of genomics, genetics, or biological sciences.
- Experience supporting and developing team members.
- Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Good understanding of health data, information governance, data privacy, and the management of sensitive patient information.
- Experience producing and maintaining accurate records, reports, and operational documentation.
- Confidence working with workflow, service management, or case management systems such as Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
- Strong planning, process management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Qualifications
Master's degree (MSc) or equivalent professional experience.

Blended working model
Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility that hybrid working can bring. We expect most people to come into the office a minimum of 2 times each month. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. There is no expectation that people will return to the office full time unless they want to, however, some of our roles require full time on site attendance e.g., lab teams, reception team.
Our teams and squads have, and will continue to reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations are: Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
