The Transport Program Delivery team delivers a diverse portfolio of capital works that enhance the safety, connectivity and functionality of the transport network. Managing projects across roads, active transport, public transport and infrastructure renewals, the team plays a vital role in delivering sustainable infrastructure that supports a growing community.

About the role

We are recruiting for both a Senior Project Officer (Level 6) and Project Manager (Level 7) position. Appointments will be made at the appropriate level based on the successful candidate's skills, experience and demonstrated capability. The key differences between the roles, including scope, accountability and level of responsibility, are outlined in the respective position briefs.

Working across a diverse portfolio of transport infrastructure projects, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating and delivering projects that contribute to the continued growth and development of the Gold Coast. You will be responsible for managing projects through all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery while balancing stakeholder expectations, project governance, budgets, schedules and risks.

These roles are suited to experienced project delivery professionals who can work with a high degree of autonomy, build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to the delivery of strategic transport outcomes for the community.

• Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of transport infrastructure projects across all stages of the project lifecycle.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Monitor project performance and ensure compliance with Council's project management framework, governance requirements and reporting obligations.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, government agencies and community representatives.
• Coordinate procurement activities and oversee consultant and contractor performance.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and opportunities, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies where required.
• Prepare project reports, briefings, business cases and governance documentation to support informed decision-making.
• Ensure project handover, completion and close-out activities are successfully delivered.

We’re looking for people who have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Diploma in Project Management or equivalent relevant experience.
• General Construction Induction Card White Card (desirable) or willingness to obtain.
• Current Class C Driver Licence.
• Experience or qualifications in electrical engineering, electrical installation, traffic signals, street lighting or related electrical infrastructure projects would be highly regarded but are not essential.
• Experience leading, mentoring and developing project team members would be highly regarded.
• Experience working within a government or local government environment (desirable).
• Experience in transport, civil construction, or infrastructure project delivery (desirable).
• Understanding of project management principles and frameworks.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
• Experience preparing project documentation and reporting.
