What You'll Get To Do
Configure and troubleshoot enterprise switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networks, including VLANs, link aggregation, Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity, and site-to-site VPNs
Install, terminate, test, label, troubleshoot, and maintain copper and fiber network cabling, patch panels, network racks, and related physical infrastructure
Deploy, configure, operate, and troubleshoot RF data communications equipment, radio systems, antennas, and associated RF cabling
Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and tear down temporary field communications sites, including network infrastructure, radios, portable antenna systems, IP cameras, cabling, and related equipment
Integrate IP-based radio systems with Ethernet and fiber networks and troubleshoot connectivity across both network and RF portions of the communications path
Perform pre-deployment testing and validation of network, RF, and field communications equipment to ensure systems are ready for field operations
Troubleshoot complex communications issues across physical cabling, Ethernet networks, switching and routing, radio equipment, RF cabling, antennas, and the RF path
Implement network changes and infrastructure improvements while independently managing smaller networking and communications projects
Monitor network health, performance, and availability using monitoring and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues
Maintain centralized network configuration management systems and ensure configuration consistency across network devices
Develop and maintain network and RF documentation, diagrams, equipment configurations, deployment procedures, and operational documentation
Perform routine maintenance, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management of network and communications equipment
What You Have
4+ years of hands-on experience across networking, RF communications, or related technical infrastructure roles
Meaningful hands-on experience installing, operating, configuring, or troubleshooting RF communications systems and associated equipment
Practical understanding of RF fundamentals, antenna systems, signal propagation, and RF troubleshooting
Experience administering or troubleshooting enterprise IP networks, with hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure such as switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, or wireless networks
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, switching, routing, and subnetting
Experience troubleshooting technical problems across multiple systems and methodically isolating the source of connectivity or communications failures
Experience working with copper and fiber network infrastructure and performing hands-on installation and troubleshooting
Basic familiarity with server, application, and end-user troubleshooting, with strong communication and customer service skills when working across technical teams and with users
Ability and willingness to perform hands-on work at temporary outdoor field sites in varying weather conditions, including moving and deploying equipment, erecting portable antenna systems, and installing network, RF, and camera equipment at varying heights
What Will Set You Apart
Experience using RF test and diagnostic equipment such as spectrum analyzers, antenna/cable analyzers, RF power meters, or vector network analyzers
Experience with software-defined radios or other IP-based radio communications systems
Experience troubleshooting RF performance issues involving interference, signal levels, antenna systems, line-of-sight, or RF path conditions
Experience supporting point-to-point or wireless network links in enterprise or field environments
Experience planning or contributing to network, RF, or communications infrastructure deployments and improvements
Experience evaluating RF link performance using link budgets, antenna gain, system losses, signal levels, and path characteristics
