Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, the Director of F&A Reporting & Metrics will lead an expansion of Financial Reporting and Operation Metrics across FRES and in support of all Schools and Centers.  This role provides leadership for Finance and Administration reporting needs across all FRES Operations.  This position is responsible for 1 direct report both external financial reporting needs as well as metrics development and maintenance. As such, professional is required to have strong leadership skills to effectively manage people, processes, and customer service interactions as well as leveraging current FRES information technology systems and visualization software required to complete and deliver work.  This role will be the key touchpoint for FRES Leadership, School/Centers, as well as ownership of central reporting deliverables. professional will evaluate proper internal controls; ensure timeliness and accuracy of internal and external reporting; and ensure key alignment across operations and long-term planning functions.

  • Develop, produce, and deliver internal reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for FRES Executive Directors, leadership teams, and budget owners.
  • Prepare and manage external reporting requirements for University partners, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all deliverables.
  • Coordinate, maintain, and leverage a connected FRES data warehouse by integrating and utilizing data from systems including AiM, Workday/Kronos, BEN Financials, eBuilder, SCADA, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Analyze and validate data to provide accurate, meaningful metrics and insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with stakeholders across FRES and the University to identify reporting needs and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement automation, process improvement, and artificial intelligence opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, and stakeholder service.
  • Perform audit-related activities and oversee financial access functions to ensure compliance with organizational policies and internal controls.
  • Monitor departmental performance, establish priorities, and ensure the successful execution of reporting and metrics initiatives.
  • Lead and manage the F&A Reporting & Metrics team, including workforce planning, recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention activities.
  • Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to staff to support growth and performance.
  • Oversee the formal performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, feedback, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Foster employee engagement and promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with leadership, staff, University partners, and other key stakeholders to support organizational objectives.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality reporting, analytics, audit support, and financial access services while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related discipline.
  • 5 - 7 years of Financial Reporting or Financial Management experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with large data sets including facilities, financial & payroll data.
  • Proficiency with systems such as Business Objects, PowerBI, Snowflake and/or visualization software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.)
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as proven analytical and problem-solving ability .
  • Demonstrated ability to understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)

About Facilities & Real Estate Services

The Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services (FRES) provides the expertise, business process, policies and standards required to plan, design, construct, operate, maintain and renew the physical assets of the University, excluding the health system. In addition, the Division, comprised of approximately five Departments, is responsible for the strategic planning, management and operation of non-academic University property, and collaborating with the neighborhood to create a safe, diverse and economically vibrant destination. With close to 18M square feet of space, FRES maintains more than 220 buildings on a campus of 299 acres, completes over 60,000 maintenance requests per year, and starts approximately 250 projects a year. FRES is comprised of the following Departments: Finance & Administration, Office of the University Architect, Design and Construction, Real Estate, Operations and Maintenance.

The University of Pennsylvania is implementing a campus transformation entitled Penn Connects ( http://www.pennconnects.upenn.edu). This comprehensive, award winning effort is expanding the campus over the next 20 years, including the construction of new academic research and recreational facilities. Pay Range

$92,592.00 - $125,000.00 Annual Rate

Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
