Within the Division for Student Affairs, The Student Health Center (SHC), a , integrated, student healthcare service, serves as the primary mental health agency for GW students. One of our missions is to support students’ mental health and personal development by collaborating directly with students to overcome difficulties and challenges that may interfere with their academic, emotional, and personal success.
The Student Health Center seeks a Licensed Case Manager to manage client wellness and autonomy through advocacy, communication, education and the identification and facilitation of services. The Licensed Case Manager reports to the Lead Psychiatrist and to the Director of CAPS.
Primary Include:
- Triaging psychiatric care evaluation requests from students, clinical staff, GW faculty and staff, and all concerned community members.
- Taking brief history of students including clinical assessment of suicidal risk to determine urgency of needs.
- Requesting and collecting treatment records prior to appointments or during the course of treatment.
- Coordinating with mental health and primary care providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Educating students, as well as families and the community, regarding the integrated healthcare services and policies.
- Managing referral process, working with providers during or intensive/specialized outpatient care.
- Assisting staff clinicians with CAPS in coordination and placement of clients to higher levels of care, when clinically indicated.
- Assisting CAPS Case Manager with maintaining a community provider referral list.
- Providing support for CAPS crisis visits.
- Managing administrative processes in conjunction with integrated care.
