The Recreation department of the Community Engagement and Cultural Services division has an opportunity for interested individuals to apply for the position of Recreation Cashier at the Whistler Olympic Plaza Ice Rink (WOPIR). Reporting to the Recreation Services Supervisor, available shift hours are 10:45am – 5:15pm and 5:45 –8:45pm, November 26, 2026, through to mid-March 2027, with the option to work multiple shifts each week.

The Recreation Cashier’s primary role is to deliver an excellent customer service experience in a pleasant, positive, and professional manner by taking payment for skate rentals and admission while providing accurate information about Municipal programs, events, and the resort community. The Recreation Cashier will complete daily cash balances; inventory skate rentals and on-ice equipment; ensure accordance of the rules and regulations that ensure public safety and fun during all public skate sessions; and be responsible for the general upkeep of the skate shop and lobby areas.

Qualified candidates will have a grade 12 diploma and a valid first aid certification supplemented by at least 6 months of previous experience in a similar role involving customer service and cashiering. Qualified candidates have sound computer skills, is proficient in POS cashiering, demonstrates knowledge of the resort community and local events.

The successful candidate is a professional and helpful individual who demonstrates skill as a detail-oriented and organized individual amidst frequent interruptions; can work effectively with others; and can diffuse situations and apply conflict resolution techniques when assisting the public. The successful candidate demonstrates commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace and will create and maintain effective working relationships with others while contributing to a positive teamwork environment. The starting wage for this job position is $28.53. In addition to the hourly wage, casual employees at the RMOW receive 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of employee benefits.
