The Office of Global Learning is seeking a Temporary Immigration Advisor.

This is a part-time position, averaging 10-19 hours/week with a start date of ASAP. The anticipated duration is approximately three to six months; however, the length of the assignment may vary based on business needs and the selected candidate's interest and availability.

The position has an in-person, hybrid or remote option.

Applicants are required to be either a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.

Hiring budget for this position is between $29.45 - 31.66/hour. The actual offer will be based on the candidate’s skills and experience.

Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

This temporary Immigration Advisor position will focus on F-1 and J-1 immigration document processing, including the review, production, updating, and signing of Forms I-20 and DS-2019. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), maintains required records in university and government systems, and supports initial document issuance, reprints, extensions, pre-arrival/admissions processing, and status activation. The position does not provide routine immigration advising or general ticket/case-queue coverage.

  • Serve as a federally approved Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the university’s F-1 and J-1 programs, reviewing and signing immigration documents.
  • Process and maintain Forms I-20 and DS-2019, including initial issuance, reprints, extensions, amendments, and updates for delayed students or cohorts.
  • Maintain accurate student immigration records in SEVIS and Sunapsis and assist with resolving record discrepancies related to document processing.
  • Support F-1 and J-1 initial student processing and status activation, including monitoring records and coordinating with appropriate university staff as needed.
  • Support related data reporting, administrative projects, required compliance training, and other duties associated with F-1/J-1 document processing.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree with at least two years serving as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience with F-1 and/or J-1 immigration document processing and the ability to interpret and apply federal immigration regulations.
  • Strong written, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills, including experience with database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and inclusively with individuals from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in international student and scholar services.
  • Experience with Sunapsis, SEVIS, PeopleSoft, or similar systems
