Senior QA Engineer (B2B Contract)

Contract: B2B until 31 December 2026, possible extension

Location: Remote, you must be based within 80km of Iași, Cluj or Bucharest

Start date: Monday 5th October

hedgehog lab is a digital product consultancy and certified B Corp with 20 years of experience. We need a senior QA engineer to join one of our clients, a large UK online marketplace.

You'll be the main quality owner on a project rolling out a new search and browse platform built on Constructor. The team has no dedicated tester and deadlines are tight, so you'll set the standard and help move things forward.

What you'll do

• Check that product data sent to the search platform matches what's expected

• Test API integrations to make sure the right data is sent and received

• Investigate slow API responses and find ways to improve performance

• Extend the Playwright test suite to cover the new search features

• Oversee quality across frequent fixes and releases

What we're looking for

• Strong senior QA experience

• Hands-on API testing, data validation and performance testing

• Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks, ideally Playwright

• Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills

• Comfortable querying databases such as MySQL

• Experience in agile teams with frequent releases and hotfixes

• The confidence to push back, challenge decisions and explain why testing matters

• Fluent English, written and spoken

Nice to have

• Couchbase or other NoSQL databases

• Experience with search platforms such as Constructor, Algolia or Elasticsearch

The team

You'll join a lead and three developers, working alongside a hedgehog lab QA engineer already on the project.

Location

This is a remote role, but you must live within 80km of Iași, Cluj-Napoca or Bucharest to be considered.

Start date

This role starts on Monday 5th October, so we can only consider people who can start on that date.
