About the Team

The Technical Development team develops and delivers innovative, high-quality products for Tommy Hilfiger Runway & Collaborations. The team supports the end-to-end technical development process, from initial concept through garment realization, ensuring exceptional fit, construction, craftsmanship and execution while delivering against seasonal and business objectives.

Working closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and global supplier partners, the team translates creative vision into technically feasible, production-ready garments that uphold Tommy Hilfiger's quality standards while meeting the unique demands of runway collections, collaborations and special projects.

About the Job

The Technical Developer is a specialist individual contributor within the Technical Development team. The role supports the technical development of garments from initial concept through production, translating creative concepts into technically feasible products that meet established fit, construction, quality and production standards.

Working closely with Design, Merchandising and Product Development, the Technical Developer leads technical development activities throughout the seasonal critical path, including fit evaluation, technical problem-solving, PLM management and supplier communication. While the primary focus of the role is Technical Development, the successful candidate will also support pattern development activities and contribute to new pattern solutions as business priorities require. Please note this is a 6months contract and you need to be eligible to work in the Netherlands, we cannot provide work permit sponsorship for this role.

**Key **

  • Support the end-to-end technical development of garments from concept through production, ensuring products meet established fit, construction, quality and workmanship standards.
  • Translate design direction into accurate technical specifications, construction requirements and product solutions while maintaining design intent.
  • Prepare for and participate in fit sessions with Design, and Product Development, assessing fit, balance, proportion, construction and garment execution while providing clear technical recommendations.
  • Document fit decisions, technical comments and development updates within the PLM system, ensuring accurate product records and full traceability throughout development.
  • Create and maintain technical specifications, construction details and development information within PLM.
  • Partner with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and global supplier partners to communicate technical requirements, resolve development challenges and support timely product execution.
  • Analyse fit, construction and workmanship issues, evaluating the impact of technical changes on product quality, supplier capability and production feasibility.
  • Support in-house development activities, including garment analysis, technical problem-solving and sample reviews to validate fit and construction before supplier handover.
  • Support sample readiness, technical reviews, reporting and 3D development activities where appropriate.
  • Independently manage multiple seasonal projects, changing priorities and critical path milestones while proactively identifying risks and communicating dependencies.
  • Support pattern development activities by implementing fit corrections, maintaining approved blocks and updating patterns where required.
  • Contribute to new pattern and silhouette development for Runway & Collaborations as seasonal business priorities require.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience in Garment Technology, Fashion Technology, Pattern Cutting or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical garment development across one or more product categories.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, grading and technical product development.
  • Experience working with PLM
  • Strong pattern-making skills, with the ability to develop, modify and maintain patterns when required.
  • Experience using Gerber pattern development software is a plus.
  • Experience using 3D development tools such as Gerber 3D or Browzwear is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of premium, luxury or runway-level garment construction, workmanship and finishing techniques.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across Design, Product Development and supplier partners, and to challenge constructively where appropriate.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, embracing change and adapting quickly to evolving priorities, creative direction and business needs.
