About the role

As the Wetlands and Waterways Scientist you will provide consistent, high quality subject matter expertise, advice and services for a range of wetland and waterway related projects that aim to integrate catchment management principles to ensure protection of the City’s waterway catchments. You will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders and support the Catchment Management Team to deliver a range of programs and initiatives that aim to monitor, evaluate and report on the City’s catchment health in order to prioritise and plan for effective management.

In this role you will:

• Project manage and provide technical support for a range of wetland and waterway related projects and initiatives.
• Manage consultant contracts and oversee project deliverables, within the scope of the role.
• Prepare and review technical reports, ecological assessments.
• Undertake data analytics and interpretation on a range of water field and laboratory tested parameters including eDNA.
• Collaborate and liaise on a range of wetland and waterway projects and issues across multiple stakeholder groups.
• Have a highly developed understanding of various legislative policy and guidelines.

We’re looking for people who have:

• Bachelor of Environmental Science degree or equivalent qualification
• Certificate IV Project Management (desirable)
• Demonstrated experience in the application of environmental legislation including the Environmental Protection Act and associated frameworks.
• Sound working knowledge of relevant software applications, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, EnviroSys, ArcGIS and Power BI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through the preparation of high-quality reports and technical documentation, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• AusRivAS accreditation or equivalent experience (desirable)
• Driver's License (C Class)
