We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Invoicing and Revenue Accountant III to join our Project Accounting Department in Torrey Pines (San Diego, CA).
This mid level role is ideal for an experienced accountant who thrives in a government contracting environment and enjoys working with complex contracts, revenue recognition, and cross functional teams.
DUTIES AND :
In this role, you will:
- Review contracts and prepare customer invoices in a government contracting (aerospace/defense/energy and commercial) environment, including:
- Cost reimbursement contracts
- Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), Cost Plus Incentive Fee (CPIF), Cost Plus Award Fee (CPAF)
- Cost Reimbursement (CR) and Cost Share (CS)
- Fixed price contracts (including progress and performance based financing)
- Firm Fixed Price (FFP)
- Fixed Price with Economic Price Adjustment (FPEPA)
- Fixed Price Incentive (FPI)
- Time and Materials and Labor Hour contracts (T&M/LH)
- Indefinite delivery contracts
- Definite-Quantity
- Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)
- Requirements

- Record journal entries for revenue, billed and unbilled accounts receivable, and support other month end close processes.
- Ensure revenue recognition complies with US GAAP and applicable company policies.
- Complete project and account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and support government final and quick close out invoices.
- Support government and financial audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests.
- Coordinate and participate in the research and analysis of accounting and financial data.
- Compile data and prepare a variety of complex reports; may present findings to professional staff and/or management.
- Provide excellent customer service and work closely with Contracts, Finance, and other internal stakeholders.
- Help assure company compliance with Financial Accounting Standards, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and disclosed company practices.
- Identify and recommend improvements to processing methods, tools, and techniques to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to and ensure the accuracy of accounting data, transactions, and reports.
- Maintain accounting files and records to ensure they are accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline along with six or more years of progressive experience in accounting with a bachelor's degree or four or more years of experience with a master's degree. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Demonstrated billing experience with cost reimbursable, fixed-price (including progress and performance based financing) and T&M in a government contracting environment.
- Experience with USG portals MOCAS, VIPERS and WAWF along with industry standard portals.
- Experience recording journal entries and supporting month end close processes.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
- SAP experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data, and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to schedule and coordinate work assignments to meet deadlines.
- Customer service focus, with the ability to build effective working relationships across functions.
- Proficiency with MS Office and strong working knowledge of Excel (for example, formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work extended hours as required to meet critical deadlines.
