The University of Washington School of Social Work, Social Development Research Group has an outstanding opportunity for a part time Operations Manager to join their team.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of the Social Development Research Group (SDRG), at the UW School of Social Work (SSW), the Operations Manager is responsible for oversight, strategic direction and management of the Center for Communities That Care (Center) including supervision of the Center team, communications and outreach, public relations, fundraising, grants and contracts, licensing, and event planning. The Center currently distributes two international prevention programs via license through UW/CoMotion, with training and technical assistance by service agreement through the Center/SSW.

The Operations Manager is the main point of contact for new agreements and projects, including development and negotiation of budgets and scopes for all Center endeavors. This position must independently manage multiple competing projects to completion, oversee complex scheduling, lead weekly Center team meetings, and monitor budgets. This position serves as a liaison to external entities and UW departments, including UW CoMotion. Professional, discrete, and prompt communication both in writing and verbally is required. The Center provides services to state-level agencies, communities, and individuals. This position reports to the SDRG Director and serves as a member of the leadership group of SDRG.

This role is responsible for coordinating and executing multiple projects and initiatives, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, supervision, communication, and reporting. Working within a complex, fast-paced environment, the Operations Manager works closely with the SDRG administrator and leadership to further the orgnization’s strategic priorities.

The salary information provided below is for a full-time position and will be prorated for this part-time, 50% FTE opportunity.

**Key **

Project Management & Operational Excellence (50%)

  • With SDRG Director and leadership team, inform Center and organizational strategic direction and priorities.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Center, including monitoring of Center projects and contracts to ensure they meet operational goals and are aligned with UW and SDRG policies and procedures.
  • Provide direction on marketing, communications and outreach activities.
  • Lead business planning and implementation strategies as required for all Center programming and activities.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects aligned with SDRG and School of Social Work as required.

Information Management & Communications (20%)

  • Oversee the design, edits and production of Center written communication materials including training materials, newsletter, brochures, and other information and public relations items to support public relations and development activities and scientific presentations.
  • Write donor/sponsor correspondence and reports in conjunction with Center staff.
  • Coordinate and participate in public relations and/or fundraising events.
  •  As required, represent Center at University and external functions, and with University and external executives, administrators, and public relations personnel.
  • Collaborate with SSW Advancement on proposals, outreach and fundraising events as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Fiscal Management (15%)

  • Monitor all Center training and project budgets and related staffing.
  • Develop and review proposals for Center grants, service agreements, and licenses.
  • Oversee Center fiscal and administrative functions, including purchasing, travel, and reporting.

Supervision (15%)

  • Provide day-to-day direction to Center team members or contracted vendors to ensure adherence to contract/project plans, milestones and deliverables.
  • Coach and guide team members and facilitate collegial and supportive environment with mostly remote team.
  • Collaboratively create project delivery teams to define and develop solutions that maximize efficiency and accuracy of Center operations.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral science, public administration, business or related field.
  • Five years of experience in planning, administering, supervising in an academic or non-profit setting, with demonstrated growth in .

Additional Qualifications

  • Project management experience (at least four years).
  • Familiarity with UW systems, including purchasing, financial, payroll/HR (Workday).
  • Time management and organizational skills:  Demonstrates effectiveness managing multiple priorities.  Ability to multitask and pay attention to details.
  • Creates accurate, neat and organized work products.
  • Completes accurate and organized work products in a timely matter. Ability to work under deadlines, prioritize/reprioritize workload based on current requests and interruptions.
  • Works well under pressure and maintains professional working relationship with internal and external collaborators, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain a highly collegial and productive work environment with a remote team
  • Provides outstanding customer service, develops positive relationships.
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and strong problem-solving skills.  Ability to think quickly on their feet and troubleshoot problems without close supervision. Ability to think outside the box.
  • Identifies ways to continuously improve processes.
  • Excellent computer skills, including using MS Office suite, WordPress, MS Teams, Adobe.
  • Basic understanding of prevention science and related prevention workforce.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field.
  • Experience with event planning and management.
  • Knowledge or certification in prevention programs such as Communities That Care, Guiding Good Choices, and other tested, effective programs.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

$99,000.00 annual
