The Role:

Are you looking for a dynamic PR agency where you’re mentored for growth? Moxie is hiring a Director to lead several account teams in the development and execution of PR strategies. Successful candidates will have 8+ years of public relations experience with enterprise B2B tech clients in an agency environment, with 4+ of those years in a team management capacity.

This position is open to candidates based in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or California. Moxie operates as a remote-first team with offices in New York City (SoHo, Manhattan) and Los Angeles (Culver City) available to those who want them. While this is a remote position, we expect this person to come into the office once a week from time to time, especially during onboarding, team intensive strategy sessions, or key client pitches.

**** :

  • Oversee PR and thought leadership strategy development, from messaging to media outreach, for 5+ clients simultaneously
  • Lead and manage teams of 4 - 7 people from both tactical and developmental standpoints, driving the day-to-day execution of work against client goals
  • Confidently build client relationships and provide persuasive, strategic counsel; lead client calls
  • Develop bold, big picture story ideas with teams, while inspiring idea generation
  • Maintain and leverage key media relationships, owning specific outlets and contacts
  • Manage client crisis recommendations, messaging and communications, anticipating and averting potential crises
  • Media train clients and staff high-level journalist interviews
  • Review documents, including messaging, strategies, press releases, and other materials, and provide actionable feedback
  • Serve as a company leader in both team and agency growth, exhibiting excellent judgment and professionalism while managing and mentoring direct reports
  • Lead new business calls and pitches

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of public relations experience in an agency environment with a diverse set of clients across enterprise B2B tech, including 4+ years of managing multiple teams and clients simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success in securing media coverage across business, consumer, tech, and/or trade press, and a strong network of active media relationships across traditional and new media (Substack, podcasts, YouTube, etc.)
  • Proven record of translating client goals into actionable, strategic plans with clear success metrics
  • Proactive, persistent, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven, with the ability to stay organized and adapt quickly in a fast-paced media landscape to deliver on client KPIs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor sharp messaging for various media verticals, audiences and contexts
  • A collaborative mindset, passion for continuous learning, and genuine interest in mentorship of junior team members
  • Experience leading thought leadership (conferences, awards, contributed content / op-eds), affiliate marketing, and/or influencer programs is a plus

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this role is $100,00-$125,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, in addition to bonus and commission opportunity.
