As a Skilled Labourer – Bridges and Concrete, you will play an important role in the construction and maintenance of Council’s bridges, footpaths, kerb and guttering, stormwater drainage systems, and other concrete infrastructure. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help deliver essential infrastructure projects across the Kyogle Local Government Area.
Position Overview
As a Skilled Labourer – Bridges and Concrete, you will undertake a variety of labouring, concreting, carpentry, and plant operation duties associated with Council’s bridge construction and maintenance activities. Working under the direction of the Overseer, you will assist in delivering works safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This role offers variety, teamwork, and the opportunity to develop your skills across a range of civil construction and maintenance activities.
**Key **

Undertake manual labouring tasks associated with bridge construction and maintenance, concrete works, drainage works, footpaths, kerb and gutter construction

Construct and dismantle formwork for concrete structures and bridge maintenance projects

Place, finish, and maintain concrete works to required standards

Assist with bridge maintenance and construction activities

Operate Council plant and equipment in accordance with qualifications and licences held

Install and maintain traffic control signage, barricades, and safety devices as directed

Identify and report maintenance issues and defects during work activities

Support the Overseer and Ganger in coordinating daily construction and maintenance activities

Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Work Health and Safety requirements, safe work procedures, and risk assessments

Complete timesheets and associated documentation accurately and on time

Promote positive teamwork, safe work practices, and professional public relations

Undertake other duties within skills and capability as directed

You are a practical and safety-focused team player with experience in civil construction, concrete works, or bridge maintenance. You enjoy working outdoors, take pride in delivering quality work, and are committed to supporting your team to achieve great outcomes.
You bring

Experience in concrete works, carpentry, bridge maintenance, or civil construction activities

Ability to undertake physically demanding manual labour tasks

Demonstrated experience working effectively as part of a team

Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices

Strong communication skills and a positive attitude toward teamwork and customer service

Ability to operate plant and equipment safely and effectively

Commitment to delivering quality outcomes for the community

Relevant qualifications, licences, and tickets (such as civil construction certifications, White Card, and driver’s licence) will support your success in this role.
