Job Description

The Sales function drives new business and revenue by helping customers find products, solutions and services that meet their needs. Within Aberdeen Adviser, the Intermediary area works through non-affiliated and third-party intermediaries who support individual investors. The Adviser Sales team combines focused account management, collaborative selling and insight-led campaigns. By developing productive adviser relationships and connecting firms with relevant propositions, the team helps enable our clients to be better investors.

About the Role

As a Business Development Consultant, you will identify, develop and progress new business opportunities through proactive adviser engagement, targeted business development and strategic sales campaigns. Working in a team of three, you will help manage relationships and sales opportunities across 9,500 unaligned accounts, while supporting growth of the Managed Portfolio Service (MPS).

This Professional-level role offers the opportunity to build commercial expertise, strengthen adviser relationships and contribute directly to pipeline growth and quality referrals. Success will combine meaningful activity, opportunity progression, accurate CRM records and consistently high regulatory and professional standards. Key :

  • Develop trusted relationships with adviser firms through proactive telephone engagement, targeted account activity and relevant, professional conversations.

  • Identify, qualify and progress sales opportunities through the lifecycle, using outbound prospecting, lead follow-up and campaign activity to maintain pipeline momentum.

  • Execute strategic sales campaigns with targeted firms, tailoring Aberdeen’s propositions and services to adviser needs and commercial opportunities.

  • Create high-quality Managed Portfolio Service referrals and partner with MPS Business Development Managers to maximise conversion opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate and timely CRM records for adviser interactions, opportunities and actions, while meeting regulatory requirements, internal processes and quality standards.

  • Build knowledge of products, propositions, systems and industry developments, sharing feedback and insight to support continuous improvement.

About the Candidate:

  • Experience working with financial advisers or intermediary firms.

  • Strong communication, relationship management and influencing skills, with the confidence to initiate purposeful conversations.

  • A commercial mindset and the ability to identify, qualify and develop sales opportunities while maintaining focus on appropriate adviser and customer outcomes.

  • Highly organised, with effective prioritisation, workload management and consistent follow-through.

  • Proficiency in CRM and sales management systems, with a commitment to complete and accurate records.

  • Completed Diploma Status in Financial Planning, or clear progress towards it, together with a commitment to high professional standards and ongoing learning.
