About the role

We have an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to play an important role in delivering high-quality and sustainable electrical engineering solutions across multiple projects.

Our Oxford office was established to provide a local presence on our projects while drawing on the wide-ranging expertise available across the firm. The office is involved in projects across complex sectors, including science and research, healthcare, education, commercial and public-sector developments.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems from project inception through to completion. You will take responsibility for defined elements of projects, work closely with the wider design team and liaise with clients, contractors and other consultants to deliver coordinated and compliant electrical solutions.

In this varied role, you can expect to:

• Take electrical design briefs and deliver defined elements of projects from inception through to completion.
• Produce electrical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Assist with the design of low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Design lighting, emergency lighting, small power, earthing, bonding and protection systems.
• Assist with standby power, generator and UPS systems where required.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, design guides and client requirements.
• Coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines and third-party consultants.
• Review and comment on technical information provided by contractors and subcontractors.
• Attend site visits and check electrical installations against the design intent.
• Attend design team, client and project meetings.
• Support electrical testing and commissioning activities.
• Assist with the preparation and review of electrical handover documentation.
• Manage your workload to meet programme deliverables and report progress to your line manager.
• Maintain technical quality and accuracy across all deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the development of junior team members.
• Continue developing your technical knowledge and professional qualifications.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution is preferred.
• A willingness to work towards IEng or CEng status.
• An understanding of low-voltage distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, earthing, bonding and protection systems.
• The ability to assist with electrical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Proficiency with relevant industry software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, Dialux, OM Electrical and Microsoft Office.
• The ability to work independently on defined electrical design tasks while seeking support when required.
• Good communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with colleagues, clients, contractors and other consultants.
• An interest in site inspections, electrical testing, commissioning and reviewing contractor submissions.
• A commitment to meeting programme, quality and technical standards.
• A willingness to learn, develop and contribute positively as part of a supportive team.
• An interest in sustainable electrical design and energy-efficient building solutions.
