Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

With limited direction, manages the planning, performance, and operations of the GA-ASI Accounts Payable Accounting and Accounting Systems team. Provides accounting, financial analysis, and business systems support for assigned users, programs, and projects.  Supports the development and implementation of accounting, financial, and cost-control policies and procedures that promote efficiency, regulatory compliance, and achievement of organizational objectives. Partners with management to develop and execute annual and long-term financial and strategic business plans. May represent the company or assigned business unit with both internal and external customers.

DUTIES AND :

  • Manage Accounts Payable general ledger activities during month-end, quarter-end, and annual close processes.
  • Oversee accounting business systems sustainment activities and systems administration to ensure continuity of business-critical operations.
  • Ensures team sustains master data, documentation, and controls in support of company’s SAP Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) framework and system.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the AP and Accounting Systems team, including onboarding, training, work assignment, and performance management.
  • Establish and monitor departmental key performance indicators, including cost-accrual accuracy and cash-forecasting precision.
  • Review financial reports for accuracy and leverage technology to improve processes and procedures.
  • Identify financial issues, recommend solutions, and manage corrective actions related to discrepancies.
  • Budget and monitor administrative expenses, cost centers, and overhead pools, as assigned.
  • Support business excellence through workforce planning, talent acquisition, selection, retention, and professional development.
  • Serve as a primary contact for managers and customers regarding projects, operational decisions, schedules, and contractual matters, as assigned.
  • Prepare and deliver financial briefings and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline and eleven or more years of progressively complex experience in finance/accounting. Must have experience in a commercial or government contractor environment. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • An MBA in accounting or finance, CPA or CMA certification, major accounting firm experience, and/or experience negotiating accounting issues with government agencies is highly desirable.
  • Must demonstrate a detailed application of industry and government finance/accounting management principles and practices as well as comprehensive finance/accounting leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must be able to resolve complex management and finance/accounting problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be an expert in one or more finance/accounting management areas.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration in accounting or finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification.
  • Vendor Progress and Milestone Payments Experience
  • SAP Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC)
