Job Description

Eaton MSD Cheltenham are looking for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for the management of resources across Cheltenham shop floor Operations to meet the demands of the business / profit plan. Combining outstanding people skills with strong technical, manufacturing, commercial and business expertise, the successful candidate will lead by example to inspire best practice, using continuous improvement driving towards world-class standards and exceptional customer service.

Key :

  • Overall responsibility for operational safety, quality, cost and on time delivery of products

  • Coordinate projects and production programs in support of divisional and plant objectives. Manage improvement efforts using Eaton tools such as EBS, ELS, EQS, Six Sigma, etc.

  • Responsible for the Production Managers, supporting them to plan, select, appraise and train personnel, continuously improving Organizational Capability.

  • Establish appropriate quality controls underpinned by process verification to ensure quality of product is maintained in line with standards.

  • Provide a safe working environment by providing a facility, tools and equipment that comply with legal requirements and Eaton MESH requirements.

  • Develop and monitor value stream and individual goals, objectives and growth to improve plant performance

  • Provide the atmosphere, leadership, innovation and working environment to support actions in the work place to reduce cost of manufacture and increase factory throughput / efficiency

  • Provide leadership and direction in the development, maintenance and improvement of processes to meet the needs of all stakeholders: Customers, Stockholder, Employees, Suppliers, our environment and community.

  • Direct expense, capital budgets and administer necessary controls to ensure effective attainment.

  • Maintain a high morale level within all departments and maintain a work environment in accordance with Eaton Philosophy & Work Practices.

  • Drive a continuous improvement culture and drive Eaton Management Excellence and high ethical standards.

  • To support generation of an operational strategy aimed at achieving the manufacturing cost and volume targets.

  • Other tasks as assigned by Plant Manager

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, scheduling, purchasing, inventory control, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving
  • Have implemented lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques and have the necessary skills to act as a driver for change.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes
  • Be able to demonstrate strategic planning, business acumen, customer and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teams
  • Multiple years of related professional and Supervisory/Managerial experience
