As a Graduate Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced industry professionals on real projects that help shape, build and connect the Gold Coast. For our 2027 Graduate Academy, we have a range of Graduate Engineering positions available across the City, spanning Civil, Environmental, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering with selected opportunities also open to Environmental Science graduates.

Starting February 2027, the Graduate Academy combines professional development with meaningful on-the-job experience, designed to support your transition from university into the workplace.

As an engineering graduate, you will be empowered to bring your fresh perspective, ideas and creativity to improving safety, quality and sustainability, while helping us deliver better services for our community and environment. Working alongside an inspiring team of engineers, you will take on meaningful and rewarding work, contributing to innovative projects that shape our City while developing your skills and knowledge, learning from experienced professionals and forging your own path in your engineering career.

What’s on offer

Each graduate will be embedded within a team for the 12-month program, giving you the opportunity to build meaningful technical experience, contribute to projects from within your chosen field and develop a strong understanding of your area. Graduate opportunities are available across:

  • Utilities Facilities Delivery (Sewage Treatment Plant)
  • Construction (Infrastructure Delivery)
  • Utilities Asset Planning and Management (Water Planning)
  • Utilities Asset Planning and Management (Stormwater Quality)
  • Open Space Asset Planning Management (Lakes and Waterways)
  • Water Quality and Compliance (Flood Mitigation)
  • Natural Hazards Engineering (Flood Modelling)

Who can apply?

To be considered for this opportunity you must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification from a tertiary institution, completed within the last two years or be completing prior to the commencement of the program in February 2027. Applicants must have full working rights in Australia for the duration of the program and be able to work full-time.

Our Graduate Engineer opportunities welcome graduates who have completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Environmental, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; or a related engineering discipline.

If your engineering degree was completed at a university that was not part of the Washington Accord for any part of the period in which you studied, you will need to provide evidence from Engineers Australia confirming that your qualification meets an equivalent standard for your application to be considered.
