About the role

The University of Manchester is one of the UK’s largest single-campus universities and offers a dynamic, rewarding environment in which to work and develop. Media Services, within Campus Technology Services, provides professional media production, audio-visual support, live event technical delivery, graphic design and specialist print services across the University.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Media Production Technician to join our Media Production team on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the production of high-quality audio and visual media for teaching, learning, research, communications and high-profile University events.

What you will do

  • Capture high-quality audio and video content in studios, production facilities, campus spaces and external locations.
  • Edit and post-produce media content, including colour grading, audio mastering, motion graphics and animation.
  • Support the technical delivery of live events, including camera operation, vision mixing and streaming.
  • Produce graphics and animations for promotional, teaching and learning materials.
  • Support staff and students using Media Services’ editing, podcast and production facilities.
  • Develop and deliver training workshops and supporting materials for individuals and groups.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging media production tools, workflows and technologies.
  • Work safely and professionally, contributing to a customer-focused and continuously improving service

About you

You will bring good knowledge of professional audio and visual media production, with practical experience in production and post-production workflows. You will be confident using cameras, lighting, audio capture, editing and mastering tools, and you will have the creativity to produce engaging, professional content for a wide range of audiences.

You should have an HND equivalent qualification in media production or a related discipline, or demonstrable professional skills and knowledge gained through relevant industry experience. Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a high level of IT literacy and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Experience of live production, location work, motion graphics, immersive or 360° media production, and a showreel of previous work would be advantageous although not essential.
