The Agentic Customer Journey Team is CCO's engine for making our vision real: "Making our CCO the most AI-forward organization at Celonis — pairing our best talent with AI to unlock a new level of how we work internally and with our customers."

As (Senior) AI Engineer, you turn ideas into working AI agents — building, testing, and iterating fast to bring the team's roadmap to life across the customer journey.

Help us push our Customer Journey to the next level by building without limits:

• Build and ship AI agents and automations against the roadmap set by the team, turning manual, one-off work into embedded systems
• Get hands-on with the latest AI agent frameworks and platforms, experimenting fast to find what works
• Support MVP testing with select account teams, incorporating direct customer feedback into what you build next

The Role:

As (Senior) AI Engineer in the Agentic Customer Journey Team, you're a builder at heart — someone who gets excited by turning a rough idea into a working AI agent within days, not months.

You take direction from agentic Customer Journey roadmap, then execute with speed and craft — writing the code, testing the agent, and iterating based on what you learn.

You collaborate closely with the rest of the team and, where relevant, with Product & Engineering — bringing a builder's perspective to how we agentify the journey.

The work you’ll do:

• You build and ship AI agents, automations, and LLM-driven prototypes against our Agentic Customer Journey Roadmap, learning fast through hands-on experimentation
• You contribute to testing new product functionality with an AI-first, builder's mindset
• You support the team's initiatives across the customer journey by building the tools and automations that make them real
• You collaborate with field teams to understand real customer and account challenges, translating that context into what you build
• You own testing your MVPs and agents with select account teams end-to-end — from setup through incorporating feedback into your next build — with support from more senior team members along the way
• You act as a sparring partner to fellow Celonauts, bringing fresh, hands-on AI perspective to problems across CCO

The qualifications you need:

• AI-First, Builder's Mindset: You default to "how can I build this with AI?" — eager to explore emerging AI agent frameworks and platforms (e.g., Claude, MCP, LangChain) and turn ideas into working prototypes fast
• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI agent frameworks (e.g., Claude, MCP, LangChain) — prompt engineering, agent orchestration, shipping production-grade automations. Paired with core software skills (Python, SQL) and Celonis platform expertise (e.g., PQL).
• Contributing to Scalable Best Practices: You're excited to document what works and build it into repeatable patterns — helping turn one-off wins into practices that can scale across CCO.
• Eagerness to Explore the Impossible: You're energized by ambiguous problems and untested ideas — comfortable prototyping fast, failing fast, and trying again
• Ownership of Your Build: You take pride in and accountability for what you ship, even while working within a roadmap set by others
• Collaboration & Curiosity: You're a strong teammate who asks good questions, learns quickly from feedback, and builds well with others
• Developing Your Judgment: AI makes information and execution commoditized — your growth edge is building the judgment to match: knowing when to trust AI output versus dig deeper, asking good questions, and learning fast from feedback on what actually works.
• Degree: In Technology & Management, Industrial/Business Engineering, Business Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or a comparable degree program
