The Henry Royce Institute is seeking a committed and engaged Communications Officer to help communicate the value and impact of advanced materials research to audiences across academia, industry, government and the wider public.

Royce is the UK’s national institute for advanced materials research and innovation. Led from our hub at The University of Manchester, we bring together facilities, expertise and research capabilities from 11 partner institutions to accelerate materials innovation and translate research into wider benefit.

About You

What you’ll do:

  • Create clear and engaging content for websites, newsletters, social media, case studies, presentations, videos and press releases.
  • Turn complex research and technical information into accessible stories for different audiences.
  • Produce high-quality visual materials, including brochures, flyers, infographics and digital assets.
  • Promote Royce research, facilities, events, funding opportunities and major programmes.
  • Maintain and improve website content, using performance insights to strengthen our digital communications.
  • Work closely with researchers, project teams and external partners to support events, visits and stakeholder engagement.

This is a hands-on role for a versatile communications professional who enjoys working across different formats, channels and subject areas. You’ll contribute to major initiatives including the Centre of Expertise in Advanced Materials, the Sustainable Materials Manufacturing Centre and the Tata Steel Centre for Innovation in Advanced Materials.
