Mid-Level Java Backend Developer
The Mid-Level Java Backend Developer will be responsible for developing, evolving, and maintaining backend solutions using Java, contributing to the quality, scalability, security, and performance of applications.
This role requires a strong technical foundation, autonomy in executing activities, and the ability to collaborate with teams, in addition to using generative AI tools to support development, productivity, and software quality.
The professional will also work on building and evolving AI agents, contributing to the development of services, integrations, and intelligent workflows that use AI in a secure, observable, and business-aligned manner.
Key daily activities

Develop, maintain, and evolve backend services using Java;

Build and integrate APIs and backend services;
-
Contribute to the construction, evolution, and integration of AI agents into existing systems;

Develop services and APIs that support intelligent agents, considering aspects of scalability, reliability, and security;

Use generative AI tools, such as Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar, to:
-
Accelerate code development;
-
Support refactoring and continuous improvement activities;
-
Assist in the analysis and understanding of legacy code;
-
Support the creation and review of tests;
-
Assist in the production and updating of technical documentation;
-
Participate in the evolution and maintenance of application architecture, following standards and technical guidelines defined by the team;

Apply development best practices, such as Clean Code, SOLID, and Design Patterns;
-
Contribute to code quality through automated tests, code reviews, and analysis tools;
-
Identify and implement technical improvements in applications and services;
-
Work collaboratively with Product, Architecture, DevOps, and other areas to develop solutions aligned with business needs.

Develop new features and perform maintenance and evolution of existing solutions;
-
Investigate problems and implement medium-complexity fixes with autonomy;
-
Perform analysis and reverse engineering of legacy systems to support modernization initiatives;
-
Contribute to initiatives involving AI agents, developing backend logic, integrations, and support services;

Monitor and analyze application performance, proposing and implementing improvements;
-
Participate in the team's technical discussions and decisions;
-
Follow architectural, security, and development standards established by the organization;

Produce and maintain clear and updated technical documentation;
-
Participate in code reviews, contributing to the team's quality and technical evolution;
-
Seek and evaluate tools and approaches that can improve productivity and the quality of deliverables.
Qualifications What we are looking for in you

Experience with backend development using Java;
-
Knowledge of object-oriented programming, development best practices, and principles such as Clean Code and SOLID;
-
Experience in developing and consuming REST and/or GraphQL APIs;

Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases;
-
Experience with version control using Git;
-
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines;
-
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes concepts;
-
Knowledge or experience with Cloud Computing, preferably AWS;
-
Experience with agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban;
-
Experience with unit tests and/or integration tests;
-
Familiarity with generative AI tools applied to software development, such as Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar;
-
Interest in developing solutions that use AI agents and other artificial intelligence resources integrated into the backend;
-
Ability to investigate technical problems and seek solutions with autonomy;
-
Good communication and ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred qualifications

Experience with monitoring and observability tools, such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana;

Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems;

Knowledge of messaging and asynchronous processing;

Technical certifications related to AWS, Kubernetes, Java, or similar technologies;

Experience in application modernization or digital transformation projects;

Experience with reverse engineering and modernization of legacy systems;

Interest or experience with generative AI applied to the software development lifecycle, including:
