Junior Java Backend Developer

The Junior Java Backend Developer will be responsible for supporting the development, evolution, and maintenance of backend solutions using Java, following development best practices and technical standards defined by the team.

This role is intended for early-career professionals who have a strong foundation in software development, an interest in technical growth, and the ability to work collaboratively.

The professional will also have the opportunity to work on initiatives involving Artificial Intelligence and AI agents, contributing to the development of services, integrations, and features with the support of more experienced professionals.

Key daily activities

  • Develop and maintain backend services using Java, with guidance from the team;

  • Implement low and medium complexity features following defined specifications and technical standards;

  • Develop and consume REST APIs;

  • Support the identification and resolution of bugs and issues in applications;

  • Create and maintain automated tests;

  • Participate in code reviews, applying received feedback and continuously improving code quality;

  • Support activities for analyzing and understanding existing systems and code;

  • Contribute to the construction and integration of features related to AI agents;

  • Use generative AI tools, such as Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar, to support:

  • Code development and understanding;

  • Identification and resolution of issues;

  • Simple refactoring;

  • Test creation;

  • Creation and updating of technical documentation;

  • Learning and exploring implementation alternatives;

  • Apply development best practices and standards defined by the team;

  • Participate in team ceremonies and activities;

  • Work collaboratively with developers, Product, Architecture, DevOps, and other involved areas.

  • Develop new low and medium complexity features with guidance from more experienced professionals;

  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on existing solutions;

  • Support the investigation of technical issues and identification of their root causes;

  • Write readable, organized, and maintainable code;

  • Create and maintain unit and integration tests;

  • Follow development, architecture, security, and quality standards established by the team;

  • Support the documentation of developed solutions;

  • Participate in code reviews and apply received feedback;

  • Contribute to initiatives involving AI agents, primarily in the development of services, APIs, and integrations;

  • Seek continuous learning and progressively develop greater autonomy in executing activities;

  • Use AI tools responsibly, validating and understanding the generated code and solutions.

Qualifications What we are looking for in you

  • Knowledge of development using Java;

  • Knowledge of programming logic and object-oriented programming;

  • Basic knowledge of REST APIs;

  • Basic knowledge of relational databases;

  • Knowledge of SQL;

  • Knowledge of version control using Git;

  • Basic knowledge of automated tests;

  • Understanding of development best practices, such as Clean Code and SOLID principles;

  • Understanding of Cloud Computing, preferably AWS;

  • Understanding of Docker and basic container concepts;

  • Familiarity or interest in learning about CI/CD pipelines;

  • Familiarity or interest in using generative AI tools applied to development, such as Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar;

  • Interest in learning about AI agents and intelligent solutions integrated into backend applications;

  • Interest in learning new technologies and evolving technically;

  • Good communication, collaboration, and willingness to receive and apply feedback.

Preferred qualifications

  • Professional experience, internship, academic projects, or personal projects using Java;

  • Knowledge of frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot;

  • Knowledge of non-relational databases;

  • Basic knowledge of AWS;

  • Basic knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes;

  • Familiarity with observability tools, such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Grafana;

  • Knowledge of messaging and asynchronous processing;

  • Experience with Git and collaborative development processes;

  • Participation in projects involving APIs, microservices, or distributed applications;

  • Academic or personal projects involving generative AI;

  • Interest in exploring generative AI applied to the software development lifecycle, including:

  • Code development;

  • Testing;

  • Documentation;

  • Code analysis and understanding;

  • Refactoring;

  • Construction and integration of intelligent agents.
