Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Strategic Finance Analyst will be the financial architect for Trulioo’s biggest strategic bets, working side-by-side with the VP of FP&A. This isn't a reporting FP&A role, it’s a high-ownership position where you’ll build the models that actually drive our strategic growth, forecasting, and capital allocation. You’ll live in the data, breaking down unit economics and stress-testing assumptions until you find the hidden levers that move the needle.

We want an AI-native analyst that uses AI as a daily tool for automating repetitive tasks, and surfacing patterns in complex transaction data. You should comfortably integrate Claude or similar tools to accelerate your workflow, prompt financial models, and analyze data outputs. You view AI as an essential asset that adds real leverage to financial analysis, driving better forecasts and reporting, faster iteration, and amplified analytical rigour.

This will be a full-time, permanent position working out of the Vancouver office on a hybrid model (3-days per week in the office).

What You’ll Be Doing:

Financial Planning, Performance & Reporting

  • Budgeting & AOP: Lead the annual operating planning process for your business segment, working across departments to build realistic, data-driven financial targets that align with company strategy.

  • Rolling Forecasting: Manage and refine rolling forecasts to provide leadership with dynamic, forward-looking insights that adapt to changing business conditions.

  • Performance Tracking & Variance Insights: Analyze monthly and quarterly results against prior periods and budgets, breaking down and escalating major variances with clear strategic context.

  • Executive & Board Communications: Collaborate with the VP of FP&A to craft clear, compelling financial narratives, KPI dashboards, quarterly board materials and investor updates.

Strategic Analysis & Growth Initiatives

  • Unit Economics & Margin Optimization: Deeply analyze margin drivers, such as transaction volumes, pricing structures, and product mix, to evaluate levers that impact EBITDA.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Serve as the strategic financial voice across the organization, partnering with leaders in Sales, Product, Operations, and Customer Success to model growth initiatives.

  • Strategic & M&A Modeling: Construct sophisticated multi-scenario financial models to guide corporate development, M&A diligence, integration, and strategic expansion initiatives.

Data, AI & Infrastructure

  • KPI Frameworks & Dashboards: Maintain accountability across the organization by defining key metrics for unit economics and efficiency, establishing automated dashboards to measure what matters.

  • Data Governance & Analytics: Ensure the absolute integrity of financial datasets by aggregating information from diverse sources and partnering across the organization to enhance transactional data flows.

  • AI Integration & Automation: Leverage advanced LLMs and AI tools to accelerate workflows, automate reporting pipelines, optimize forecasting models, and flag transaction anomalies.

What You’ll Bring:

Background and Experience

  • 1–2 years of experience within corporate development, private equity, or junior investment banking.

  • You have firsthand experience building and defending robust financial models during due diligence and high-level leadership meetings.

  • 2–3 years of hands-on analyst or FP&A experience in fintech, payments, or transaction-focused industries. You are adept at modeling unit economics, transaction volumes, and pricing structures, with a deep understanding of cohort profitability, CAC/LTV dynamics, and the precise bottom-line impact of minor pricing adjustments.

Attention to Detail and Rigour

  • Commitment to meticulousness defines your work style.

  • You naturally detect discrepancies in complex, 100-line models that others overlook, and you annotate your assumptions with the clarity of code comments. Identifying data logic errors or broken reasoning across multi-tab sheets is second nature to you.

  • Knowing how easily a single flawed variable can distort entire projections, you routinely stress-test models by working backward from the final outputs.

AI-Native Mindset

  • Leveraging Claude or similar tools to accelerate deliverables is second nature to you.

  • You have practical experience prompting financial models, interpreting data outputs, and automating routine analytical tasks.

  • Constantly seeking out novel applications, you evaluate how AI can introduce substantial leverage into financial analysis and reporting.

Intellectual Curiosity

  • You're curious. You ask why. You read financial results like a puzzle to solve.

  • You want to understand what drives outcomes, not just report them.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior exposure to identity verification, compliance, or regulatory fintech (payments, KYC, AML).

  • Experience in scaling or hypergrowth companies

Interview Process:

At Trulioo, we strive to create an interview experience that is transparent, engaging, and respectful of your time. Our process is designed to help us learn more about your skills and experience while giving you insight into our team, culture, and the impact of the work we do.

Here's what you can expect throughout the interview process:

  • Recruiter Interview: 30 minutes

  • Hiring Manager Interview: 45 minutes

  • Panel Assessment: 90 minutes
