We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Clinical Lecturer (Research and Teaching focused) within the Division of Psychology and Mental Health, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. This permanent clinical academic lecturer position offers an exciting opportunity to pursue collaborative research in an area relevant to clinical psychology and to engage in knowledge transfer activities aimed at maximising the impact of your work. You will also provide clinically relevant teaching, research supervision and academic support on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate (ClinPsyD).

You will be responsible for:

  • Carry out research at nationally and internationally recognised levels of excellence that is aligned with the priorities of the Division and Faculty, and to regularly publish the results in leading outlets
  • Apply for and win research funds from external sources at a level which allows them to be competitive in their field and to create opportunities for next generation researchers
  • Undertake ClinPsyD and PhD supervision in a manner that satisfies the Manchester Doctoral College’s expectations for the supervision of research students
  • Design and deliver inclusive and effective lectures, workshops and seminars for students on the ClinPsyD
  • Provide appropriate academic and pastoral support and guidance to students on the ClinPsyD

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria

  • A Clinical Psychology Doctorate OR a Statement of Equivalence stating that the holder’s qualification in clinical psychology is recognised within the UK
  • Professional registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council [N.B. the post-holders will be responsible for maintaining this registration/accreditation throughout their tenure]
  • A growing record of relevant research as evidenced by significant publications in peer-reviewed outlets, some external funding and a clear trajectory to important impacts within and beyond academia
  • Emerging evidence of research independence and the ability to lead projects
  • Experience of successful teaching for undergraduate and/or postgraduate students

Desirable Criteria

  • A PhD in psychology, clinical psychology or a related academic discipline
  • A teaching qualification or fellowship appropriate to higher education (e.g. HEA / Advance HE)
  • Experience of successful completion of service or leadership roles in academia or the NHS
