Opportunity:

The Electrical Engineer position will play a role in the continued growth and success of the company. Working with the Product Development team, you will help to solve complex problems while developing awesome kids’ battery-operated products. We are looking for a creative engineer who can bring ideas, solve challenges, drive the product into production on schedule and collaborate with vendors and Procurement team to hit target costs and more.

Specific include:

  • Develop solutions, partnering with Product Development Engineers and Industrial Designers to solve technical challenges.
  • Build electrical prototypes to prove out concepts, functionality, and performance before products move into production.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to build, test, and debug embedded firmware for hardware such as motor controllers, drive trains, sensors, and user interface features.
  • Support schematic design and PCB layout for new electrical components.
  • Define the specification of electronic components, bill of materials (BOM), and costing for development for new products.
  • Evaluate and define battery and charge management protection for battery-operated ride-ons and other motorized products.
  • Test and validate products against applicable safety and regulatory standards, including ASTM F963, CPSC, UL, and FCC/EMC requirements.
  • Build custom web apps and dashboard tools, leveraging AI coding tools to support engineering and testing workflows.
  • Communicate and collaborate with engineers, vendors, and cross-functional teams in the U.S. and overseas through email and video/conference calls.

Requirements/ Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Effective problem solver who is committed to producing products of exceptional quality and beautiful design.
  • Experience with electronic prototyping platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi
  • Experience with electronic test equipment such as multimeters, data acquisition systems, and oscilloscopes
  • Strong project management skills and experience working with overseas vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The salary for this exempt position is $75,000 – $95,000. Pay is based on , skills/experience level, education, along with the Chicagoland area market, the consumer product industry, and company size. Radio Flyer’s paid time off policies comply with the City of Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick and Safe Leave Ordinance. Eligible team members may have the opportunity to earn a bonus, profit sharing, and enroll in benefit programs, generally including health insurance, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(K), life and disability insurance, employee assistance programs, and more.
