PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the BBC’s Corporate and Stakeholder Engagement team at a pivotal moment for the future of the Corporation, making the case for the BBC during Charter Review and debates on the future of public service media. As a Corporate Engagement Advisor, you’ll build relationships across key sectors, identify new areas and audiences, and deliver engagement projects that advance the BBC’s policy objectives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most significant debates facing UK broadcasting.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate & Stakeholder Engagement, you'll help deliver the BBC's engagement with stakeholders and opinion-formers across media, academia, the cultural sector and civil society. Through events, briefings and intelligence gathering, you'll help ensure the BBC is informed by and connected to the people and organisations that shape public debate. You'll manage the BBC Alumni Network, an active community of former BBC colleagues, and keep stakeholder databases and contact lists updated that underpin engagement activity across the Corporation.
As the BBC prepares for Charter Review and continues to evolve to meet future opportunities and challenges, the role offers scope to work across a wide range of priorities and adapt to emerging organisational needs.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
The Corporate and Stakeholder Engagement team leads the Corporation’s relationships with organisations and opinion-formers with an interest in the BBC’s role and future, from academics and campaigners to think tanks, industry bodies and cultural institutions. We work closely with senior leaders across the BBC, including the Director-General and Chair, planning engagement and providing strategic advice and briefing.
The team works across some of the BBC's most important strategic priorities, from the future of public service media and the creative industries to media literacy, technology and the impact of the BBC across the UK. Sitting within the wider Policy and Public Affairs team, we collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to strengthen understanding of the BBC’s role and value among key stakeholders and decision-makers.
YOUR KEY AND IMPACT:
As Corporate Engagement Advisor you will:
- Help build and maintain relationships with a range of external stakeholders and opinion formers, improving the BBC’s understanding of and engagement with key audiences, and identifying new stakeholders to engage with.
- Manage stakeholder engagement projects, including events, screenings and roundtables, and support the delivery of engagement activity across the organisation.
- Update and develop the BBC's core stakeholder databases and contact lists, ensuring records remain accurate and relevant, while monitoring developments across the external landscape.
- Prepare stakeholder briefings, engagement plans and background materials for senior leaders, supporting key meetings, events and announcements.
- Lead production of the External Affairs newsletter (‘This Week, Next Week’) and other stakeholder communications.
- Manage the BBC Alumni Network, overseeing membership, communications and engagement opportunities.
- Work flexibly across the External Affairs team and wider Policy and Public Affairs team, building strong relationships with colleagues and contributing to shared objectives and wider team priorities.
