The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Human Resources Assistant (Part-Time) within the Department of Human Resources. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs administrative support in one or more functional areas of Human Resources; provides customer service and assistance to City employees and the general public; and performs related duties as assigned.
**Please Note:**The current vacancies are within the HR Administration and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) divisions; however, the consideration for hire list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill positions in other divisions within the Human Resources Department including: HR Administration, Recruitment & Talent Acquisition, and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). HR Administration:Provides front desk support, verifies employment, assists with filing, and posts jobs daily.

Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS): Supports the systems, data, and technical processes that help HR deliver services and support to the organization.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition: Assists with recruitment processes, including preparing documents, proctoring assessments, entering scores, and career outreach.

This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.

This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)

Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week (Monday - Thursday). Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- One (1) year of office administrative/customer service experience in a Human Resources, or similar, environment
- Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
- Proficiency in keyboarding sufficient to type 35 net words per minute
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment

Initial Skills-Based Keyboarding Examination* (Pass/Fail) - Test invitations and instructions will be sent on September 15, 2026, and due on September 17, 2026.

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above.

This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
