About the role:
Join our Environment & Heritage team and help protect the Gold Coast's unique environment, public health, and community wellbeing. As a Pest Management Technician, you'll play a vital role in identifying, monitoring, and controlling mosquitos and other pests that threaten our public health.
Working as part of the Vector & Biosecurity Services Unit, you'll undertake field-based pest management activities, collect and record data using in-field technology, provide technical advice to stakeholders, and contribute to programs that help keep the Gold Coast safe and sustainable.
What you'll be doing:
- Deliver pest management programs across the city.
- Identify, monitor and survey pest insects species.
- Implement control measures using safe and effective pest management practices.
- Record and map activities using in-field computing technology.
- Maintain plant and equipment used in pest management operations.
- Build positive relationships with community members, contractors and government stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety requirements and legislation relating to chemical use and pest management activities.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in pest management, biosecurity, environmental operations or a related field.
- Can work independently in outdoor environments and manage competing priorities.
- Communicates effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Has strong attention to detail and records management skills.
- Is safety-focused and committed to delivering high-quality services to the community.
- Enjoys contributing to public health outcomes.
